Alam Educational & Welfare Trust Launches Rural Skill Development Program

In an effort to improve employment opportunities for rural youth, Alam Educational & Welfare Trust has launched a new skill development program in villages of Jharkhand. The initiative aims to provide practical training that helps young people become self-reliant and financially independent.

The workshops include tailoring, computer basics, mobile repair, spoken English, and digital literacy. Participants receive hands-on training, guidance from experienced volunteers, and certificates after completing the course. Some trainees are also provided with starter toolkits to begin small work from home.

According to founder Mahmood Alam, skill-based education is essential in rural areas where job opportunities are limited. He said, "Many young people have talent but lack training. By teaching useful skills, we want to create opportunities for them in their own communities."

Local youth showed strong interest in the program. Several participants said they hope to start small businesses such as tailoring services, phone repair shops, or online work. Parents also welcomed the initiative, noting that skill training reduces migration to cities and helps families stay together.

Community members have supported the workshops by providing space and helping with outreach. Volunteers from nearby towns have also joined as trainers and mentors, sharing practical knowledge and career advice.

Experts believe such programs play an important role in rural development. Skill training not only increases income opportunities but also boosts confidence and social awareness among youth.

The Trust plans to expand the program to more villages and introduce advanced courses in computer education and entrepreneurship. It is also exploring partnerships with local organizations to create job placements and internship opportunities.
