Doves feasting at the log pile where SlugZilla!! met his end

Lincolnshire, UK. February 14th, 2026
'SlugZilla' was just a common garden slug until he found fame on the popular YouTube live stream 'Lincolnshire Explored and Exposed', a common slug who became known not just for his size but for his voracious appetite.

Now, Louth-based musician Ducks and Coffee has composed 'The Last Hours of SlugZilla!! - a Prog-Rock Epic in 5 Movements' in memory of the former YouTube star. The 18-minute-long instrumental traces the sorry slug's final journey from gorging on hedgehog-food, through a snooze filled with nightmares to his final moments as he blindly slithers his way to a watery grave - all of which streamed live.

Producer and multi-instrumentalist Ducks explains,
"SlugZilla, while only with us for a short while, made quite an impact on the nature-lovers following the stream. I was inspired not just by the conversations taking place in the chat but also by the beauty of the garden teeming with wildlife Phil and Lou have in Scunthorpe.
"The musical format is influenced by classic early prog band stylings such as Genesis and Yes, with humorously titled track subdivisions, abrupt tempo-changes and mood-swings all moving the story along at an easy, not too sluggish pace."

With nearly 15,000 followers, the 24-hour live stream run by Phil and Lou Ryan from the Ridding's estate area in Scunthorpe is one of the UK's most popular suburban live streams and regularly features all kinds of local wildlife from foxes to finches as well as a log pile full of busy mice and a pond packed full of frogs, newts and snails, all supervised by King Arthur (the family cat) and a fountain statue fondly nicknamed Pee Wee.

"It's our chance to share and celebrate the peaceful and relaxing nature of Lincolnshire and our beautiful wildlife," says Phil. "and it goes to show you don't need to be in the countryside to enjoy nature."

"We're expecting our first hedgehog any day now," Lou continues, "and the pond is coming to life with frogs, newts and snails as spring arrives. The pond is definitely a must-see for all nature lovers. The whole garden is a very relaxing space both online and off."

"SlugZilla became a true celebrity," they both recall. " It was quite sad to hear he'd slipped away. People are still talking about him today."

While the average UK garden can host to up to 20,000+ slugs at any one time, most live underground playing a vital role in a garden's ecosystem, specifically composting. But, like sharks, slugs are hugely mis-understood by many gardeners and have an unjustified bad reputation. The truth is only 9 of the UK's 40+ slug species actually damage living plants while the rest, like SlugZilla, quietly enrich a garden's ecosystem.

'The Last Hours of SlugZilla!!' is currently live with video and storyline on youtube.com/@ducksandcoffee
Drops February 27th on Spotify, Apple Music and all major streaming services.
