Rising energy prices, political uncertainties, growing tax burdens: while traditional investments are becoming less and less attractive, many investors are turning their attention to real assets. In an interview, the two founders, Mark Breit and Marc Hegemann, revealed how this works and what interested parties should know about it.

This also applies to photovoltaic investments, which have been heavily supported by the government's EEG subsidy for years. With this subsidy expected to expire at the end of 2026--a step that has already been prepared politically and is being pushed forward by Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Katherina Reiche, among others--more and more investors are asking themselves how viable existing models will still be in the future. At the same time, there is growing uncertainty as to whether new projects will continue to be reliably profitable under changed regulatory and economic conditions. Added to this are falling electricity prices in direct marketing on the electricity exchange, increasing grid bottlenecks, and a tax burden that is noticeably increasing, especially for successful entrepreneurs. "Many investors are therefore not looking for short-term promises of returns, but for substance: for real values that function independently of political decisions and can be cleanly integrated into a long-term asset and tax strategy," explains Mark Breit of PVMarktplatz.de, part of the SUNLIFE Group.

"This is precisely why we now need a shift in thinking towards photovoltaic concepts that function stably even without government subsidies and offer real planning security," adds Marc Hegemann.

Together, they operate the PVMarktplatz.de platform, through which private and corporate investors throughout Germany can benefit from directly available photovoltaic direct investments. Their focus is deliberately on modern PPA models, i.e., long-term power purchase agreements that are combined with storage solutions, clearly defined technical standards, and structured payment and construction risk protection for buyers. In addition to predictable returns, tax structuring options and levers such as investment deductions or special depreciation also play a central role. The aim is to make photovoltaics a viable long-term investment opportunity - transparent, realistically calculated and independent of short-term market distortions.

What is the concept behind PVMarktplatz.de and SUNLIFE? Mark Breit: We offer a complete service package for the planning, development, and distribution of photovoltaic investments. This includes technical planning, installation by our specialist companies, and the development of our own solar projects. It is important to us that our customers have a partner who covers everything from the initial idea to installation and successful operation, all from a single source. In this way, we not only guarantee technical quality, but also compliance with all legal and tax requirements, which is absolutely essential for investments of this kind. Our products are designed to generate reliable and sustainable returns - without any of the risks that are often overlooked. How the collaboration works: The path to direct PV investment Your customers' goal is to generate reliable returns by investing in such projects without taking unnecessary risks or incurring excessive costs. To what extent do you meet these requirements? How does the collaboration work in practice? Marc Hegemann: The first step is always to register free of charge at PVMarktplatz.de. In an initial personal consultation, we then show our customers which types of systems and investment models are suitable for their personal situation. The consultation can take place by telephone, via a Teams meeting, or as part of an on-site appointment. The next step is to help them select the right project. Of course, we are available to advise our customers throughout the entire decision-making process. "We clarify any open questions and provide all relevant information--from technical reviews to in-depth site assessments." Once our customers have decided on a project, we work with our financing partners to develop a customized financing concept. After reviewing and signing the relevant contract, a transparent and comprehensible investor invoice is provided. Once payment has been completed, the legally secure transfer of ownership finally takes place. For the additional security of our customers, construction costs are only released as construction progresses; there is also the option of securing payment processing via a lawyer's escrow account. At the same time, we arrange for the corresponding easement to be entered in the land register of the respective roof or surface owner. We provide our customers with all project-related documents in a high-quality folder as well as digitally via online access.

The installation of the PV modules and inverters is followed by the DC completion, which means that the system is technically ready for use. With the subsequent AC grid connection, the system feeds electricity into the public grid and begins to generate ongoing income. Our project managers accompany and monitor all construction measures in the interests of the investors. Once the system is up and running, the SUNLIFE-Service team takes over the complete management of the system as part of a comprehensive all-round service package. This includes ongoing technical support and maintenance, 24/7 monitoring with personal access, monthly yield accounting with direct distribution, insurance coverage, and a personal contact person throughout the entire term.
