EveryCat Health Foundation advances feline health by supporting groundbreaking research and education. Its work worldwide has funded $12 million in cat health research studies at more than 30 partner institutions.

How EveryCat continues to advance feline medicine through groundbreaking research and education
EveryCat Health Foundation [https://everycat.org/]-a non-profit dedicated to advancing feline health by supporting a variety of research and education initiatives-has announced the significant strides it made in during the period of May 1, 2024 to April 30, 2025 to advance feline health and well-being, as well as provide valuable education to veterinarians and cat owners alike.

"We're so proud that we've been able to expand our reach and deepen our impact," said EveryCat's President & CEO Jackie Ott Jaakola. "As our 60th anniversary approaches, we look forward to continuing to celebrate what we've achieved since 1968, and plan the contributions we can make to feline medicine over the next 60 years."

Why Donating to EveryCat Is So Impactful

During FY2025, EveryCat received $2 million in donations, with $1.5 million going directly to current feline health research, related education, and the support of new studies.

"The importance of the donations we receive cannot be understated," said Ott Jaakola. "Contributions and gifts, along with corporate sponsorships and investment income, make it possible for us to advance our mission of improving the health and well-being of cats around the world."

How EveryCat Used Donations in FY2025

During FY2025, the organization contributed to helping cats, their owners, and the professionals who treat and study them. The following is how EveryCat Health Foundation contributed to feline research and education.

EveryCat Health Foundation Research Funding Delivers World-Leading Impact

EveryCat directly funded 19 grants in seven countries totaling $729,558. Of this funding, $489,157 was awarded during the Fall Cycle and $240,401 was provided in the Spring Cycle. These studies focused on conditions such as heart disease, cancer, chronic kidney disease, and feline immunodeficiency virus.

In addition, EveryCat contributed $496,832 to a collaborative that is focused on feline infectious peritonitis (FIP). In conjunction with the Morris Animal Foundation, the non-profit provided funds to address an outbreak of a new FIP form that occurred in Cyprus in 2023 [https://everycat.org/morris-animal-foundation-and-everycat-health-foundation-join-forces-to-fight-deadly-disease/]-which led to higher rates of severe feline illness and death.

EveryCat Health Foundation Education Initiatives Create Awareness, Better Health Outcomes

EveryCat furthered its efforts on how FIP has been addressed through education. The organization teamed up with Colorado State University to organize the "Has PURRsistence Cured FIP? All we know so far" symposium, which was available in person and online.

What EveryCat did in the area of education programs does not end there. In FY2025, the non-profit also organized seven free webinars addressing kidney disease, diabetes, stress management, nutrition, FIP, dentistry and parasites. A total of 1,365 veterinary professionals, cat owners, and caregivers in 26 countries attended these programs.

EveryCat's webinars can be viewed online at https://www.youtube.com/@EveryCatHealth.

In addition, EveryCat participated in education events with The Cat Fanciers' Association, the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine, and Viticus Group.

EveryCat Health Foundation Sponsors Scholarships and Awards, Uplifting Next Generation Feline Health Leadership

The organization has also financially supported those who are studying veterinary medicine. EveryCat's Clinical Practice Scholarship and Clinical Research Scholarship [https://everycat.org/2025-everycat-health-foundation-felinevma-scholarship-winners/]-which are given to students who demonstrate financial need along with high academic achievement, leadership, dedication, and excellence-were awarded in partnership with the Feline Veterinary Medical Association. The winners were Yvonne Figueroa of Oregon State University and Britta Siegenthaler of Colorado State University, respectively.

Also, the Steve Dale EveryCat Health Foundation Communications Award, named in honor of long-time EveryCat Board member Steve Dale, CABC, was given to Stacy LeBaron, founder and host of the Community Cats Podcast. The award is presented annually to recognize an individual or group who uses media outlets to educate the public about cat health and behavior.

Honoring EveryCat Health Foundation Volunteers and Their Support of the Mission

Just as with its donors, the non-profit is recognizing how EveryCat volunteers have been able to support its mission. The Advocats Volunteer Program celebrated its first anniversary this January 2025. The program's 33 volunteers-who are located in 17 states and three foreign countries-contributed 1,000 hours of in-kind services, including content creation, events and outreach, administrative support, and program oversight.

"The passion and commitment of our volunteers have been commendable," said Ott Jaakola. "EveryCat had an amazing year and we've seen real change thanks to the efforts of our staff, board members, volunteers, donors, and partners."
