Turkey Announces Plan to Enhance Developments of Combat

SMi Reports: Turkish Ministry of Defence’s Head of Land Platforms SSM to give an update on the nation’s combat vehicles development plans to enhance survivability at Future Armoured Vehicles Central & Eastern Europe conference.

The Turkish Government have recently launched a $500 million tank-upgrade contest. The backbone of the upgrade program would be armour improvements and installing active protection systems on the body.*

Speaking at SMi’s Future Armoured Vehicles Central & Eastern Europe conference this May, Turkish Ministry of Defence’s Head of Land Platforms SSM will give an update on the nation’s combat vehicles development plans to enhance survivability.

Mr Fatih Yakici will give an overview of wheeled and tracked Turkish fighting vehicles currently developed as well as discuss the threats to the vehicle that the Turkish Land Forces must be prepared to face. He will also provide updates on the country’s active protective system – Project AKKOR as well as examine flexible layer cage armour systems as an option for passive protection. Details on the Multispectral Camouflage Systems will also be announced.

Firmly established as Central & Eastern Europe's most focused armoured vehicles meeting, the conference will take place on 15th-16th May 2017 at the Andel’s Hotel in Prague, Czech Republic. With a large representation from the Czech Ministry of Defence, the 2017 show will bring together industry leaders from the region to give updates on modernisation plans and discuss how to enhance combat vehicle survivability as well as showcase progress on C4I and weapon systems technology.

The conference will provide regional strategic updates from land force command and capability development including but not limited to: Austria, Bulgaria, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovenia and Turkey and have a key focus on the Czech MoD and development of next generation infantry fighting vehicle, 8X8 and MBT platforms. The 2-day programme will also provide an examination of the key combat vehicle capability areas and technologies enabling future lethality, survivability and C4I and gathered perspectives and feedback from mechanised operations and multinational training.
