Global Study Finds Healthcare AI Adoption Accelerating, While

Texas, USA, Date: 9th January, 2026

Artificial intelligence has transitioned from being just a concept to a common tool in healthcare. Still, a new global study highlights that the workforce isn't quite ready for this fast-paced change.

The 2026 Global AI in Healthcare Report by Radixweb, a AI-first technology company, shows that AI is now integrated into various areas like clinical care, administrative tasks, and decision-making support. But interestingly, over 85% of the clinicians surveyed mentioned they need more training to use AI properly and responsibly.

This research gathered perspectives from over 750 clinicians, healthcare IT leaders, and AI developers worldwide, offering a view on how AI is being used and highlighting the challenges that healthcare organizations still face.

AI Becomes Core to Healthcare Operations

The report shows that AI is now beyond just being a part of pilot programs. People are using it regularly for things like diagnostics, clinical decision support, documentation, and even operational planning. 50% of the organizations surveyed claimed that the biggest advantage of AI implementation was how it streamlines workflows and cuts down on admin work.

As more healthcare systems start to embrace AI, they're moving towards fully integrated AI models instead of just using it in separate instances.

"AI technology has matured quickly," said Divyesh Patel, CEO of Radixweb. "The challenge now is ensuring clinicians and healthcare organizations are equally prepared to apply it safely and effectively."

Skill Gaps Raise Concerns

Despite growing reliance on AI, many clinicians reported limited confidence in interpreting AI outputs, understanding system limitations, and applying recommendations in real-world clinical settings.

The report highlights a concern: if training isn't adequate, it could lead to a lack of trust in AI tools, hinder their adoption, and affect the consistency of care provided. The research points out that proper education and continuous skill development are key to unlocking the full potential of AI in improving outcomes.

"Adoption alone does not guarantee success," said Dharmesh Acharya, COO of Radixweb. "Healthcare organizations must invest in governance, accountability, and sustained skills development across clinical and IT teams."

Integration and ROI Are Still Challenges

Healthcare organizations are still facing hurdles with system integration (66%) and getting a good return on their AI investments, even after training. The report revealed that outdated legacy systems often get in the way of AI solutions working smoothly in their workflows.

Also, while some organizations noticed improvements early on, only 42% reported seeing any real, widespread benefits from their AI projects. They pointed to regulatory issues, old systems, and changing care delivery methods as ongoing challenges.

The study highlights that to really see long-term benefits, it's crucial to align AI strategies with operational goals, upgrade infrastructure, and keep executive support strong.

2026 Seen as Turning Point

Looking at the current trends, the report points to 2026 being a key turning point for AI in healthcare. It seems that organizations are going to shift from just automating simple tasks to really embedding AI in their entire operations.

About the Study

The 2026 Global AI in Healthcare Report pulls together anonymous survey data and insights from healthcare experts and tech leaders from various areas. Instead of just looking at whether people plan to adopt AI, the research dives into how it's actually being used in real-world settings. The key insights that the report highlights include:

-57% of clinicians say AI helps improve clinical decision-making
-66% of healthcare IT leaders cite integration with existing systems as the top challenge
-43% of clinicians report early reductions in clinical errors
-60% of developers are using large language models in healthcare projects
-57% of developers identify privacy and security as their primary concern
