About the Author:

Barb Higgins is a lifelong teacher, coach, and athlete. A Division I All American in Track & Field at Boston University in 1983, Barb was the first female high school athlete in New Hampshire to run a sub-5 minute mile. After several years of professional running for Nike, Barb returned to New Hampshire, where she taught and coached for over thirty years. Alongside her career, she created A Thousand Tiny Steps , a podcast and blog, and founded The MollyB Foundation. When not running the foundation, Barb is a mother to four-year-old Jack and twenty-four-year-old Gracie.

Why Barb Wrote Motherland:

After the devastating loss of her daughter, Molly, Barb found herself plunged into an overwhelming darkness.
