BGV Academy Launches CBVP, India's First Certification for Background Verification Professionals

BGV Academy has announced the launch of CBVP - Certified Background Verification Professional, a first-of-its-kind certification designed to professionalize and standardize training in India's background verification industry.

As hiring volumes increase across IT services, GCCs, staffing firms, and startups, background screening has become a critical function. However, the industry has traditionally relied on informal, on-the-job learning, leading to inconsistencies in quality, compliance awareness, and communication standards.

CBVP is a self-paced 7-8 hour online certification that covers employment, education, address, and criminal verification workflows, along with modules on handling personal data (PII), documentation standards, and professional communication. The program includes practical scenarios and a final assessment leading to certification.

"Despite the scale and importance of background screening in India, there has never been a formal certification for professionals in this space. CBVP is designed to bring structure, credibility, and consistency to the role," said Sachin Aggarwal, Director at AMS Inform.

The program is intended for entry-level professionals, experienced screening teams, HR and compliance functions, and organizations involved in hiring and onboarding. Upon successful completion, participants receive a Certified Background Verification Professional (CBVP) certificate.

The certification is now open for enrolment across India.
