Detroit's Holiday Harvest Brings Free Groceries and Health

Detroit, MI - December 22, 2025

The Shumake Family Foundation will host Detroit's Holiday Harvest, a FREE grocery giveaway, on Monday, December 22, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Bert's Market Place, 2727 Russell Street, Detroit. This event is open to individuals and families in need.

Guests will receive free groceries and holiday food in a respectful, market-style setting. No payment is required. No sign-up is needed. All are welcome while supplies last.

In addition to food, Recovery Mobile Clinic will provide free and confidential HIV and STI testing on site in a private mobile unit. Medical staff and case managers will be available to help guests. People who complete HIV or STI testing may receive a $15 gift card while supplies last. Health services are optional and not required to receive food.

Detroit's Holiday Harvest continues a family tradition of caring for the city that began in 2012. Over the years, this effort has helped feed more than 25,000 people across Detroit.

The need is great. In Detroit, more than 1 in 3 households struggle to get enough food. This means many families are not sure where their next meal will come from or do not have enough money to buy healthy food. More than 8,000 people experience homelessness each year, and many children and seniors are affected.

This year's Holiday Harvest is made possible through the support of generous sponsors and partners, including Sugar Honey Iced Tea, Dunamis Clean Energy Partners, Greenfield Plaza, Abayomi CDC, Young Titan Mindset, Catholic Charities Southeast Michigan, NSO, Buddha Brain AI, DJ Outcold, New Mercy Care, Kairos Research, City of Detroit Health Department, Greater Faith Assembly, Recovery Mobile Clinic, Little Village, Bert's Market Place, and Morton Development Group.
