Columbia Cosmetics Manufacturing Expands Southern California Operations with New ccmiLABS Facility, Strengthening Its Position as a Leading Contract Manufacturer in Beauty and Personal Care
Chatsworth, CA - December 11, 2025 - Columbia Cosmetics, one of North America's premier contract manufacturers in the beauty and personal care industry, is proud to announce the expansion of its Southern California operations through the relocation of ccmiLABS to a newly upgraded, state-of-the-art facility. The move, completed in August 2025, increases the company's Southern California capacity by five times, allowing Columbia Cosmetics to meet rising client demand and pursue new strategic partnerships. This relocation marks the latest milestone in Columbia Cosmetics' ongoing growth journey - one that began with the 2023 acquisition of the assets of Verde Cosmetic Labs, an established Los Angeles-area manufacturer specializing in natural formulations for skincare, hair care, and bath and body products. Following the acquisition, Verde Cosmetic Labs was rebranded as ccmiLABS, integrating its strong R&D foundation and natural formulation expertise into Columbia Cosmetics' full-service manufacturing network.
Now, two years later, ccmiLABS has relocated to a new, larger facility in the Greater Los Angeles area, reflecting Columbia Cosmetics' commitment to continued innovation, operational excellence, and brand collaboration.
"The acquisition of Verde Cosmetic Labs brought invaluable formulation know-how and deep experience in natural product development," said Rachel Rendel, Founder and Chairperson of Columbia Cosmetics. "Now, with our new, expanded ccmiLABS facility, we're building on that foundation - combining science, creativity, and scale to help more brands bring their beauty innovations to life."
John Matise, CEO, added: "This expansion positions Columbia Cosmetics for the next decade of growth in beauty manufacturing. Our goal is to blend advanced production capabilities with forward-thinking innovation - giving our brand partners the agility, scale, and confidence to lead in an ever-evolving marketplace."
From its humble beginnings as a three-person operation to a leader in North American contract manufacturing, Columbia Cosmetics has spent over four decades transforming beauty concepts into market-ready realities. Founded by Rachel Rendel, a beauty entrepreneur who began as a door-to-door cosmetics saleswoman before earning her Aesthetician and Cosmetician licenses, Columbia Cosmetics was built on a vision of custom-formulated products tailored to each brand's unique specifications.
Today, Columbia Cosmetics operates two advanced facilities in Northern and Southern California, housing R&D laboratories, manufacturing operations, QC/QA facilities, corporate offices, art department, and product showrooms. With a team of over 100 professionals, Columbia Cosmetics serves a diverse portfolio of established and emerging brands across skincare, body care, hair care, and color cosmetics.
With an extensive formula library of more than 20,000 formulations and advanced AI-driven formulation tools, Columbia Cosmetics offers unmatched expertise across liquids, solids, hot pours, and powders, including OTC, organic, and C-B-D product categories. Its turnkey services cover every stage of production - from custom formula development and packaging design to quality testing, regulatory compliance, and in-house FDA registration services (OTC and MoCRA).
Columbia Cosmetics' facilities maintain a comprehensive suite of certifications, including:
• FDA Registered Facility
• FDA/CDPH Drug & Cosmetic Manufacturing Licenses
• FDA/CDPH Organic Processed Product Registration
• NSF/ANSI 305 & NOP Organic Certifications
• COSMOS/ECOCERT Certified
• RSPO Certified
• GMP: ISO 22716-2007
As Columbia Cosmetics enters its next chapter, the company is actively seeking new partnerships to fill its expanded capacity and continue advancing the future of beauty and personal care manufacturing.
