Frontier Yachting: A Boutique Charter Brokerage Built on First-Hand Seamanship and Real Local Knowledge

A superyacht anchored in blue tropical waters, symbolising the freedom, privacy, and refined elegance of crewed yacht charters.
Before establishing Frontier Yachting, he spent years as a charter captain and charter manager, navigating the waters of Greece, the Balearics, the Caribbean, and many regions in between. Four seasons at the helm and three years in senior charter management form the foundation of a company built on practical seamanship, clear communication, and itinerary design based on real conditions, real anchorages, and genuine local knowledge.
"I design itineraries the way a captain would," he says. "Not by drawing a pretty route, but by understanding the sea that shapes it."
Frontier Yachting delivers tailor-made crewed yacht charters across the world. With over a decade of experience at sea and ashore, the company guides clients toward the right yacht, the right crew, and journeys shaped around who they are, not what a catalogue suggests.
A Philosophy Born From Experience
Maurits' transition from captain to charter broker was not a career shift. It was a natural continuation of the same responsibility. Ensuring that every guest experiences a seamless and unforgettable yacht holiday. During his years managing charters across Greece, Croatia, the Balearics, and other regions, he handled around fifty successful charters across all major yacht types. He developed a reputation for precise communication, honest guidance, and itineraries that work in the real world.
Much of the work clients never see involves interpreting forecasts, coordinating with captains, anticipating restrictions, and ensuring that crews are fully supported. Having done nearly every job onboard, from navigation to technical troubleshooting, Maurits understands the consequences of each decision made during the planning stages.
One story in particular captures the ethos behind Frontier Yachting.
A Defining Moment in the Caribbean
One of the first charters he ever managed was a high-stakes booking on a large catamaran in the Caribbean. Days before guests arrived, a critical inverter failed. Without it, the yacht had no 220 volt power, no air conditioning, and no watermakers. Replacements would take weeks to reach Martinique. The owner prepared for a six-figure cancellation. The captain saw no way forward.
Maurits did.
He sourced the correct inverter in Belgium, purchased it, packed it into a suitcase that exceeded every airline limit, and flew it across the Atlantic. The next morning, he was in Martinique. For two days he worked inside the technical room of the yacht, in tropical heat, together with a technician who had flown in from St. Maarten. After repeated testing, analysis, and troubleshooting, the system came back to life. Guests boarded on schedule. The charter ran flawlessly.
The experience left a mark. In yachting, help rarely arrives from elsewhere. You stay calm, stay curious, and find the way forward.
This mindset now shapes the DNA of Frontier Yachting.
A Boutique Approach in a Growing Industry
Frontier Yachting is intentionally small. It is designed for clients who value expertise and personal attention over volume and automation. Service is personal, not transactional. Transparency is essential. And each itinerary is crafted with the mindset of a captain who understands how conditions, regulations, and crew dynamics influence the success of a charter.
Frontier Yachting specialises in the Mediterranean and Caribbean, providing access to sailing yachts, luxury catamarans, motor yachts, and mini cruisers. Clients benefit from a founder who has lived the realities that most brokers only read about. The result is a quieter, more authentic approach to luxury. Something grounded not in sales language but in real seamanship.
"Clients do not simply want a yacht," Maurits says. "They want to feel that every detail has been considered on their behalf. That the crew knows their expectations and they can sit back and relax the entire week. That is what Frontier Yachting delivers."
As travellers seek deeper experiences and as the charter industry expands, Frontier Yachting represents a return to fundamentals. Real expertise, real knowledge of the sea, and service shaped by years spent onboard rather than behind a brochure.
