FUTURE SOIL® unveils world first liquid soil engineering technologies after eight years of development
Australia's FUTURE SOIL® has announced the public release of a new class of liquid soil engineering technologies that redefine how water, nutrients, and carbon behave in the ground. After eight years of chemical development and large scale field testing, the company is releasing a suite of original, engineered formulations that solve leaching, soil failure, and long term degradation across agriculture, landscaping, and desert environments.FUTURE SOIL® is not a fertiliser brand and not a repackaged product line. It is an Australian soil engineering company that has created new chemistries from first principles. These liquids change soil behaviour at the structural level and introduce mechanisms never previously available in agriculture. The launch represents the first commercial availability of these technologies anywhere in the world.
A new category of engineered carbon based soil technologies
At the centre of the platform is FUTURE SOIL® Liquid Biocarbon, a carbon dense liquid fertiliser and biostimulant that functions as a flowable form of Terra Preta. This formulation uses activated carbon, organic stimulants, and nutrient carriers to build long term carbon residence, improve CEC, stabilise water in the profile, and accelerate biological activity. It is the first commercially accessible liquid Terra Preta system.
FUTURE SOIL® Clay Breaker introduces a cationic clay remediation system that replaces gypsum entirely. This engineered penetrant restructures sodic and hard setting clays, opens compacted layers, and transports amendments deep into the profile. It performs with a level of precision and mobility that bulk minerals cannot provide.
FUTURE SOIL® Sand Level stabilises hydrophobic and collapsing sands through a cationic bonding mechanism that increases water storage, reduces erosion, and creates structural consistency without polymers or gels.
FUTURE SOIL® Wood Vinegar supports the biological cycle that follows physical and chemical improvement, enhancing microbial activity, root development, and nutrient uptake.
Together, these technologies represent a unified soil engineering platform based on activated carbon chemistry and field proven hydrological control.
Eight years of real world evidence
Across more than eight years of field trials in Australia and the Middle East, FUTURE SOIL® technologies have consistently delivered measurable gains in infiltration, root density, water holding capacity, nutrient retention, and crop vigour. Trials include vineyards, broadacre crops, horticulture, turf, nurseries, urban landscapes, and extreme desert sands.
FUTURE SOIL® founder and CEO Juan says the platform was shaped entirely by real soil conditions.
"Every formulation we release today exists because the field demanded it. We built new chemistry to solve failures that traditional products cannot reach. Our work proves that when you engineer soil at the micro structural level, you reduce water loss, increase carbon storage, and restore performance with scale. Australia now leads this field."
Now available for commercial deployment
With production underway, FUTURE SOIL® technologies are now commercially available for agriculture, turf management, large scale landscaping, and environmental restoration projects in Australia and internationally. The company is expanding deployment programmes across farms, councils, developers, and desert rehabilitation groups.

FUTURE SOIL® is an Australian soil engineering company developing world first liquid technologies that change how water, nutrients, and carbon behave within soil. The company creates original chemistries from first principles, designed to solve structural soil failures that limit modern agriculture including leaching, poor infiltration, hydrophobicity, compaction, erosion, and long term carbon loss.
Founded after eight years of experimentation and field testing across Australia and the Middle East, FUTURE SOIL® integrates carbon science, colloidal chemistry, and soil physics to build a new class of engineered liquid systems. These technologies replicate and enhance the mechanisms found in Terra Preta soils, delivering long term structural improvement through activated carbon matrices, cationic bonding systems, and plant derived biological stimulants.
Unlike conventional soil conditioners or repackaged formulations, FUTURE SOIL® products are original inventions. Each formulation is built to control hydraulic movement, increase cation exchange, stabilise aggregates, and improve nutrient efficiency in ways not previously available to growers.
The company's platform consists of four flagship technologies:
• Liquid Biocarbon, a flowable Terra Preta system that delivers carbon stability, improved CEC, enhanced biological activity, and long term water retention.
• Clay Breaker, a cationic clay restructuring liquid that replaces gypsum and opens compacted or sodic clay layers with precision.
• Sand Level, a stabilising agent for hydrophobic and collapsing sands that increases water storage and reduces erosion.
• Wood Vinegar, a plant derived biostimulant that enhances microbial and root activity.
FUTURE SOIL® technologies have been validated through extensive field work in vineyards, horticulture, broadacre, urban landscapes, turf, nurseries, mines, and extreme desert sands. Results consistently show deeper infiltration, higher moisture retention, improved soil structure, stronger root development, and reduced fertiliser loss.
With manufacturing based in Australia and deployment programmes expanding internationally, FUTURE SOIL® provides growers, councils, developers, and environmental groups with engineering grade tools to regenerate soil at scale. The company's mission is to create practical, high performance soil technologies that reduce water use, build long term carbon stores, and restore degraded land across Australia and the world.

Soil water potential and soil moisture characteristic curve
Soil water potential
Soil water potential Soil water potential characterizes the "energy state" of soil pore water relative to a reference point (usually pure water). Specifically, it can be defined as the work required to free a unit volume or mass of soil pore water from the constraints of soil particles and soil salt solution and reach the state of free water (pure water) under constant temperature. Based on this definition,…
