Ammolite Security and Myntex Showcase Post-Quantum Secure

Ammolite Security, in partnership with Myntex, successfully showcased its portable advanced communication system during the SHINE (Showcasing Hybrid Innovative NATO Experimentation) event, held from October 13-17, 2025, at the Maritime Faculty of Istanbul Technical University. The event marked the culmination of NATO's Innovation Continuum, a strategic initiative led by NATO Allied Command Transformation (ACT) that brings together nations, academia, and industry to accelerate the adoption of emerging and disruptive technologies across the alliance.

Our Group Experiment

Ammolite Security and Myntex, together with Sma-rty, the UK Ministry of Defence, and MicroAmp, took part in the 5G Testbed Portability Experiments, originally conceived at the GLOW event in Portugal four weeks earlier.

The experiment focused on backhaul network resiliency, leveraging both FR1 (sub-6 GHz) and FR2 (mmWave) frequency bands. This dual-band approach allowed rapid reestablishment of communications when FR1 was under active jamming. At the tactical edge, a customer premises equipment (CPE) unit connected to a long-range Wi-Fi access point simulated a tactical 5G bubble, supporting secure mobile devices, edge computing, and live feeds from ATAK.

During the experiment, FR1 was actively jammed, and FR2 seamlessly took over, extending the backhaul to utilize mmWave, maintaining uninterrupted connections and ensuring critical communications stayed online. Myntex's Mobile Communications Unit (MCU), located at the Main Operating Base (MOB), was integrated into the network. It enabled rapid deployment, provisioning, and management of devices at the tactical edge. Myntex's custom-built, security-focused mobile operating system RenatiTM, along with its secure messenger ChatMailTM, which integrates with the MCU, allowed for rapid testing of the new MLKEM768X25519 hybrid Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) algorithm. Additional algorithms, including ML-DSA, SLH-DSA, and FN-DSA, can be incorporated for message signing and verification if required in the future. This configuration ensured secure communications throughout the network, with message latency increasing from a baseline of 125 ms using traditional cryptography and TLS overhead to 402 ms under PQC. The results demonstrated that advanced cryptography and device management could be successfully maintained even under active jamming conditions.

Our Product Demo

Generals and representatives from allied nations visited the event, observing experiments and exploring company booths to learn about emerging technologies firsthand.

This is where the Mobile Communications Unit (MCU), Renati OS and ChatMail really shined (pun intended).

We successfully demonstrated:

- Encrypted calling, messaging, group chats, and multimedia sharing
- Out-of-band portable communications for device provisioning and management
- Operation independent of cloud infrastructure, with optional seamless integration when required
- Sovereign, zero-trust architecture designed to counter both conventional and quantum-enabled threats
- Post-quantum secure communications

Key Insights from SHINE 2025

Modern warfare increasingly relies on secure communications that enable command execution, intelligence sharing, and real-time coordination. At the same time, it must protect sensitive data from interception. Adversaries are now weaponizing drones equipped with StingRay-like devices to intercept, inject, and exploit mobile devices. Flying over battlefields, these drones can compromise devices within an 8 km radius. They can force network downgrades, intercept live calls, deliver malicious payload, spread misinformation, and pinpoint troop locations.

How We Help

At Myntex, we operate under a simple principle: communications are only as secure as the operating system they run on. By building Renati OS from the ground up, we removed many of the attack surfaces that spyware depends on, delivering a hardened platform that resists both conventional and advanced threats. Combined with ChatMailTM and our custom MDM, we provide resilient, sovereign, and secure communications for modern defense operations.

About the NATO Innovation Continuum

The NATO Innovation Continuum is a strategic initiative led by NATO Allied Command Transformation to accelerate the adoption of emerging and disruptive technologies across the Alliance. By bringing together academia, industry, and national partners, the initiative aims to strengthen collective defense capabilities and ensure readiness in an evolving threat landscape.

About SHINE 2025

SHINE represents the final phase of the Innovation Continuum. Hosted in 2025 at the Maritime Faculty of Istanbul Technical University, SHINE brings together NATO entities, national representatives, researchers, and industry innovators to test and validate technologies that enhance operational readiness, resilience and interoperability in multi-domain environments. It showcases how collaborative experimentation drives NATO's ability to integrate cutting-edge technologies into future operational and defence capabilities.

Ammolite Security and Myntex were proud to represent Canada on this global stage. We thank NATO for the opportunity to showcase our technology and remain committed to advancing secure communications that safeguard allied nations against evolving threats.
