SGS Offers Hover Board Certification for Canada and the USA
Having successfully completed the ISO 17025 audit, SGS is now able to offer certification to ISO 17065 and UL 2272 for hover boards destined for sale and distribution in North Ameri-ca.UL 2272 Electrical Systems for Self-Balancing Scooters offers a formal framework for the evaluation, testing and certification of these products, commonly referred to as hover boards. Thanks to the accreditation, SGS consumer electronics experts can now test hover boards and certify them against the standard. UL 2272 will help to ensure that products of this kind – designed both for children and for adults – that are destined for the US market meet the requirements of all the relevant regulations.
Global Hover Board Evaluation Services
The absence of specific standards for this product category has led to a number of quality and safety issues. In both the EU and North America, the most frequently reported safety hazards have concerned faulty cut-off switches, lithium batteries and non-compliant plugs.
To support the industry in tackling these issues, and others, SGS has developed a range of testing protocols. The company’s complete product evaluation service includes:
