Although commercial vehicle crashes have gradually declined over the past several years, fatalities stemming from these collisions have remained constant. TTI's 2024 mobility report found that the average Houston commuter spent 77 hours stuck in traffic last year and wasted 23 gallons of fuel, with major freeways such as IH-45 Northbound experiencing congestion up to 64% of morning drive time. Moreover, US-59 Southwest Inbound reported 100% congestion during peak hours, with average speeds just 11 mph.
