Custom Plastics Fabrication - Advanced Machining at LVP

Custom Plastics Fabrication and machining first-class plastic products to perfection requires a high level of expertise, the right equipment and strict quality control. Machines are very technical and must be operated by professional plastic machinists who are skilled in milling, drilling, turning, sanding, forming, grinding, punching and tooling an array of plastics to exact specifications.
State-of-the-art computer numeric control equipment is available for precision in the custom plastics fabrication process. These plastic machines operate at speeds up to 1,000 inches per minute while maintaining tolerances of +/- .004 of an inch. The speed and precision of these machines results in exceptional quality and low costs plastic fabrication.
At Lehigh Valley Plastics, we guarantee quality by checking samples of the product throughout the plastic machining process. We also regularly update and add new machines to our production facilities. The following machines were recently added to aid in the custom plastic fabrication process.
Mighty Viper VT-38 CNC Lathe

Upon our arrival in the new building, one of the first new pieces of equipment we purchased was a Mighty Viper VT-38 CNC Turning Center. This machine gives us the capabilities to turn up to a 34” diameter part at much faster speeds and better accuracy than ever before. We are also able to take some of our manual engine lathe processes and perform them on this machine in a fraction of the time.

Hardinge 480DT APC

The Hardinge 480DT APC’s are two of the fastest production machines this company has ever owned. (Soon there will be a 3rd) These machines each have dual 24” x 16” tables that rotate in and out of the milling area. This allows the operator to be loading and unloading parts on pallet “A” while the machine is milling the parts on pallet “B”. In some cases, these machines triple the production rates of older equipment, allowing us to greatly increase our throughput and overall efficiency.

Komo Fusion 510 CNC Router

We have just added on a brand new Komo Fusion 510 CNC table router. This machine has a 5’ x 10’ work table and dual 24,000 rpm heads which allows us to cut out two parts at the same time. The machine is lightning fast on rapid approaches and has increased our maximum cutting feed rates by up to 100% in some applications. This machine’s robust construction enables us to hold close tolerances while machining at high speeds.

Schmalz Vacuum Lift Jumbo Ergo 300

Over the last 2 years we have added miscellaneous Vacuum lifters around our shop. These lifters aid dramatically with the loading and unloading of large or heavy sheets of plastic onto our process equipment. Each unit has a capacity of lifting up to 660 lbs. The vacuum lifters have increased productivity and also have added safety benefits by reducing the chance for lower back injuries related to manual lifting.
