Majority of Homeowners Plan to Use HELOCs to Fund Bathroom

Charlottesville, VA - A new poll from BathCalculator.com reveals that most homeowners planning a bathroom remodel intend to tap into their home equity for financing, signaling growing confidence in real estate values and continued demand for home improvement projects.

The survey, which gathered responses from 343 participants, asked: "How do you plan to pay for a new bathroom?" The results show that 57% of respondents plan to use a Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC) to fund their project - by far the most popular choice.

Full poll results:

HELOC: 57% (195 votes)

Personal Savings: 26% (89 votes)

Home Equity Loan: 10% (33 votes)

Credit Card: 5% (17 votes)

Personal Loan: 3% (9 votes)

"These results show that homeowners see bathroom renovations as a long-term investment," said Jason Keeley, owner of BathCalculator.com. "Using a HELOC or home equity loan suggests that people are not only confident in their home's value but also in the stability of the housing market overall."

The poll also indicates that while nearly a third of respondents prefer to pay out-of-pocket, relatively few rely on short-term financing options like credit cards or personal loans - a trend that may reflect higher interest rates and increased financial caution among consumers.

BathCalculator.com regularly surveys homeowners to better understand trends in renovation spending, financing choices, and project priorities. The site also offers free cost calculators and guides to help users plan realistic bathroom budgets before beginning a remodel.
