Messe.TV looks back on ten years of editorial trade fair reporting

Messe.TV will be celebrating its tenth anniversary next year. Since its launch in 2016 with coverage of the Spielwarenmesse in Nuremberg, the platform has become an integral part of the German trade fair landscape. What began as an independent pioneering project is now a journalistic point of contact for trade visitors, decision-makers and companies who want to find out about innovations and developments in a wide range of industries.
From concept to platform for innovations
The basic idea was unusual right from the start: Messe.TV was not only intended to cover trade fairs, but also to accompany them editorially - with journalistically produced video reports that highlight innovations and provide insights into the development of individual sectors. The team focused on moving images instead of traditional press work. Since then, interviews, product presentations and compact background reports have formed the core of the format.
This concept is financed by advertising in the editorial environment - a form that particularly appeals to companies from the B2B sector. This is because companies offering industry-specific products or services find a suitable environment on Messe.TV to reach target groups without wastage. Editorial content and advertising space are clearly separated, which strengthens credibility and reach in equal measure.
The path through challenging years
Like the entire trade fair industry, Messe.TV was hit hard by the effects of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020 and 2021. Numerous events were canceled, and with them the opportunity to film on location. The team used this phase to strategically develop the format further.
Instead of exclusively covering individual trade fairs with very comprehensive reporting, the concept was broadened. Today, Messe.TV reports on a larger number of trade fairs - and focuses on the highlights, new products and industry trends.
Despite this broader positioning, there are still formats that are produced in particular detail. One example is bauma in Munich, whose reporting achieved exceptionally high coverage in 2025 (https://www.messe.tv/en/fairs/germany/bauma). The response clearly showed how much interest has grown in well-founded, authentic trade fair reporting in video format.
Balanced reporting as a principle
A central component of the editorial self-image is balance. Messe.TV provides a stage for leading international corporations as well as medium-sized companies and start-ups. The decisive factor is not the size of the company, but the relevance of the topic.
This approach still characterizes the editorial line today. It ensures that innovations at all levels are visible - from new production systems in mechanical engineering to sustainable materials in the packaging industry. The diversity of topics and sectors has become a trademark and forms the foundation on which Messe.TV has continuously expanded its reach.
Continuous expansion of reach through editorial quality
Messe.TV has built up a steadily growing audience in recent years. The complete editorial contributions appear exclusively on its own platform messe.tv - with interviews, product presentations and trade fair highlights in journalistic form.
Short formats and highlight clips are also published on YouTube to increase coverage. These short excerpts will show concise moments and innovations from individual exhibitors and direct interested users directly to the full articles on the website.
The reach is generated organically - based on the relevance of the content and the high findability of the videos in search engines and social media. The combination of its own platform, targeted SEO strategy and supplementary social media playout has made Messe.TV an established source of specialist information and trade fair news. The claim remains clear: editorial quality, comprehensible content and journalistic independence.
Editorial standards and thematic breadth
Over the last few years, the thematic perspective has broadened further. In addition to product presentations and technical innovations, Messe.TV is increasingly shedding light on overarching topics: Digitalization in production and logistics, energy efficiency, sustainability, automation and materials development.
This variety of topics ensures that Messe.TV today not only appeals to exhibitors, but also to trade visitors, students, developers and decision-makers who want to find out specifically about new developments. The result is a knowledge platform that takes trade fair reporting and industry communication to a new level.
Preparing for the anniversary year 2026
With its anniversary approaching, Messe.TV is consciously looking ahead. Ten years of continuous trade fair reporting stand for consistency, journalistic quality and adaptability. To mark this milestone, in 2026 we will not only be looking back at the beginnings, but also planning new formats to document the transformation of trade fair communication.
At the same time, as part of the anniversary preparations, Messe.TV is offering particularly favorable conditions for companies that want to place their brand in the editorial environment of a trade fair. This offer is aimed at companies that advertise in the B2B sector and are looking for visibility in a credible, thematically appropriate environment.
Advertising on Messe.TV is not an isolated banner or spot, but part of an editorial framework that is already being specifically consumed by a specialist audience. Companies benefit from the fact that their messages appear in a journalistic context in which there is already interest in innovations and products.
An overview of all trade fairs for which advertising space can currently be booked as part of the 2026 anniversary year can be found at https://www.messe.tv/en/trade-fair-dates-2026.

Ten years of Messe.TV - an outlook
The anniversary year 2026 will be more than just a look back for Messe.TV. It marks the beginning of a new phase:
for even more thematic breadth,
for the expansion of editorial focal points,
and for a closer integration of trade journalism and digital distribution.
At a time when many traditional media have reduced their trade fair coverage, Messe.TV remains true to its original goal - to make innovation visible and document developments in moving images. The combination of journalistic independence and an economically viable advertising model continues to form the foundation of its success.
At a time when automated content and AI-generated texts are becoming increasingly important, the value of credible, editorially verified reporting is growing. Messe.TV stands for authentic, first-hand information - directly from the trade fairs and always with journalistic responsibility.
On the occasion of the upcoming anniversary, Messe.TV would like to thank all previous sponsors and partner companies who have made independent, editorial reporting possible in the first place by booking advertising packages. In recent years, this support has helped to ensure that journalistic trade fair reporting in Germany has not only been maintained, but has also developed into an independent digital format.
Ten years of Messe.TV thus stand not only for continuity, but also for partnership-based cooperation between editorial staff, exhibitors and advertising companies - a model that is likely to become even more important in the future.
