Canadian Tire Yorkton Under SGI Investigation for Unauthorized Vehicle Work, Says Local Resident
Yorkton, Saskatchewan - October 29, 2025:
A Yorkton resident has raised serious concerns about the Canadian Tire Yorkton automotive department, prompting an ongoing investigation by SGI (Saskatchewan Government Insurance).
The resident, Dennis, reports that he brought his vehicle-previously inspected and approved in Ontario under stricter provincial standards-to Canadian Tire Yorkton for a required out-of-province inspection. Despite the truck passing Ontario's inspection cleanly, it was failed in Yorkton for items such as windshield wipers less than a year old and a supposedly "missing" lug nut that was present when the vehicle was dropped off.
"SGI confirmed to me that this location is under investigation," Dennis stated. "They also warned me this has happened before-vehicles being worked on without signed authorization from the owner."
According to Dennis, he never signed an inspection authorization at Canadian Tire Yorkton, yet work proceeded. He claims that when he questioned staff, they were dismissive and unprofessional, forcing him to buy a full pack of lug nuts just to replace one that went missing during the inspection.
SGI is currently investigating whether Canadian Tire Yorkton performed work on vehicles without customer signatures or consent, a violation of standard SGI inspection procedures. Dennis says he has also reported the issue to Saskatchewan Consumer Protection and other relevant agencies.

, and says that many other local residents have since come forward with similar experiences involving the same location.
"This isn't about hate-it's about truth and accountability," Dennis added. "Yorkton residents deserve better than being treated like we don't matter. I'm standing up because too many others have been through the same thing."
