In this project, Vinci Construction used Sika's cementitious intumescent filler for sealing cable penetrations and pipe joints in a large commercial complex project in France. The silicate-modified formula expanded up to five times its original volume when exposed to heat, forming a strong insulating barrier that prevented flame and gas passage.

The product was applied in service shafts, wall gaps, and structural joints to meet EN 1366 firestop standards and ensure long-term durability under thermal stress and humidity. Its cementitious base offered mechanical strength similar to concrete while maintaining flexibility for minor movement and vibration.

Vinci chose this product due to its high expansion ratio, non-toxic emissions, and compatibility with concrete substrates. Alternative polymeric sealants were rejected because of lower temperature tolerance and aging performance. The use of intumescent cement filler improved the overall fire safety rating of the structure and helped achieve full compliance with European passive fire protection regulations.
