Press release from: Broadbean Technology

Irrelevant applications is a recruiters biggest grievance

The biggest problem facing recruiters is irrelevant responses from candidates.

In a survey by Broadbean Technology, recruiters listed irrelevant response as the biggest issue that they face in their jobs. Closely followed by small response and candidates applying for roles when they cannot work in the UK, irrelevant applications are wasting recruiters time and prolonging deal making.

Emma Cuffaro, Head of Account Management at Broadbean, comments, “Recruiters must make sure adverts are well written and concise to ensure that they get the most relevant CVs back from job boards. Clients that use Aplitrak to measure the success of their campaigns notice huge differences in relevancy of reponses between good and bad adverts. In such a competitive industry there is no room for apathy; writing a two liner or just copying a job spec just won’t do.”

Last year, Broadbean rated Easy Web Recruitment’s advert for a Part-time Sales Associate as “Job of the year” for its phenomenal response.

Adrian McDonagh, Director at Easy Web Recruitment, advises, “Today’s internet job hunter will look at dozens of jobs online. With this in mind, it is important to produce adverts that are easy to read. Ideally, this should include sub headings so candidates can quickly locate the information they need. Don’t be afraid of detailing points that might put some candidates off. For example, if the role has extensive travel, mention it in the advert. It will mean some candidates don’t apply, but only the unsuitable ones.”

Despite concern over a lack of suitable candidates, recruiters ranked “writing good adverts” low down on their list of office woes.
