Does Biotin Shampoo Work? No Clinical Trials Show It Does

There are no randomized clinical trials showing that biotin shampoos regrow hair or slow hair loss. Clinical dermatology reviews and the NIH (National Institutes of Health) further support this claim.

Why this matters: Shoppers are paying premium prices for "biotin" labels without clinical proof. While Biotin still works well in absorption when ingested, it's simply washed away when taking a shower.

If you're using a biotin shampoo or thinking about it, temper expectations - there are no randomized clinical trials showing it regrows hair or slows loss, and major reviews plus NIH say the same. Shampoos rinse off, so "biotin" on the label is mostly marketing; if you want evidence-backed options, look to minoxidil (OTC) and clinician-guided treatments, and only use biotin if a deficiency is confirmed. Bottom line: don't overpay for a promise that isn't proven.
