The Velvet Abstract - Consecutive Festival Nominations for ‘Best Short Film’

A Short Film About the Environmental Age Set Against a Plethora of CG, Illustrations, and Animations from a Team Spanning Six Continents.

The Velvet Abstract highlight's the detrimental damage we are doing to the environment, in a bid to raise awareness about our plight so that even more people can join the campaign to help save our planet. The script’s unique take on the environmental concerns facing mankind, culminated in CG artists from The Hunger Games, Avatar, Star Wars, Game of Thrones, The Martian, and many more, lining up to work on the film. Consequently, it saw the film produced on six continents, transforming it into the global production he always envisaged.

This brought it to the attention of Tobias Menzies, who came straight from the success of The Night Manager, to record the narration.

The picture cut itself received an overwhelming reaction from the world-renowned Composer Jean Pascal-Beintus, who broke with convention and for the first time in his illustrious career agreed to write an original score for a short film. So on the back of his incredible work on Argo, Harry Potter, The King’s Speech, The Imitation Game, and The Danish Girl to name just a few, Jean-Pascal wrote the original score for The Velvet Abstract.

The Velvet Abstract’s environmental message also impressed BAFTA who invited the film and its Director to be part of a special sustainability in filmmaking event at the Princess Anne Theatre in London, where they screened an exclusive trailer to a packed audience of environmentalists.

The Velvet Abstract has now begun its festival campaign and has already been an official selection of the 31st Fort Lauderdale Film Festival the Barcelona Planet Film Festival the Los Angeles Cine Fest, and is now nominated for Best Short Film at the Muybridge Short Film Festival.

It has also just been shortlisted by the Cosmic Film Festival for Best Short Film. The red carpet awards ceremony will be held in the beautiful Caribe Royal Hotel in Orlando, Florida on 19th February.
