Fighting the system, and featuring a Palestinian act, 24:1900 music festival offers independent artists an alternative platform

24:1900 (https://24-1900.live/), the innovative online music festival spanning the globe, returns on 6-7 December 2025. Showcasing independent artists from all 24 time zones, the festival features 24 artists performing at 19:00 local time in their respective regions-unifying the world in a truly global celebration of music.

This year's edition focuses on the democratic need to resist, culturally and politically. To facilitate resistance, we need an independent media. To do so, 24:1900 will raise funds for Byline Times (https://bylinetimes.com/), helping them champion free and fearless journalism.

"Bringing together acts from around the world at a time of great polarisation is a political act in itself-especially given our platform for both Palestinian and Taiwanese artists," says co-founder Mark of 122 Music Management (https://linktr.ee/122mm), the British company that created and runs 24:1900.

"Just finding a Palestinian artist was a challenge, underscoring the harsh realities Palestinians face everywhere. At one point, an invited artist withdrew after sharing concerns: Israeli border control checks mobile phones, closely examining social media feeds. They feared that even our online posts could jeopardise visits home to their families."

The festival also highlights other battles facing musicians. Following news that the former Spotify CEO invested in an AI military defence company, a growing number of mainstream artists are removing their music from the platform in protest.

Independent artists, meanwhile, continue to face longstanding issues: unfair compensation from streaming services, the risk of having their music removed with no recourse, and the ongoing crisis in live music with venue closures and exploitative promoters. There is also the rising threat from AI, as artists grapple with unauthorised use of their music and voices.

Finally, 24:1900 remains committed to accessibility and environmental sustainability, making it a festival for all.

24:1900 gives independent artists a platform to resist and challenge industry norms. And to reclaim their creative direction and reach listeners who may never have encountered their work before. As part of the festival's commitment to supporting artistic independence, additional artists are also being offered complimentary advertising opportunities.

"If you want to support quality independent music and help artists push back, 24:1900 is a great place to start," adds Mark. "The fight is global."

122 Music Management (https://linktr.ee/122mm) was established in January 2023. It created 24:1900 music festival the following year, and held the first edition over the weekend 21-22 December 2024.

Besides the core purpose of looking after our artists (Sky Diving Penguins & Still Traffico), we help other artists referred to as affiliates.

Our broader mission is to help the wider independent music community more widely, by joining us in the creation of something unique, such as 24:1900.

24:1900 is exactly that; a groundbreaking 24-hour online music festival championing independent artists from around the globe by giving them an alternative platform to showcase their talent. The festival uniquely spans 24 time zones, with 24 artists performing at 19:00 local time in their respective regions.

Finally, we are determined that our business model will chime with the wider social and environmental challenges we face.
