The original Tesla Roadster Art Car was commissioned by Tesla for Art Basel Miami Beach in 2010 and created by world-renowned artist Laurence Gartel, the "Father of Digital Art." Gartel, recognized by Apple alongside figures like Picasso and Steve Jobs, is famed for teaching digital art to Andy Warhol. The Gartel X Tesla Art Car #1 NFT was made by Gartel in 2022 and is the last digital remnant of this lost piece of automotive and art history.
In a move highlighting the project's forward-looking vision, the NFT's imagery was beamed to space via satellite last week, capturing a photograph with Earth and Mars in the background, symbolizing the project's alignment with mankind's interplanetary future.
The initiative is bolstered by archival support from major global outlets and institutions like Wired and the British Library, cementing its historical authenticity. The project will commit a portion of its proceeds to support Dogecoin-related charities and DTCosmos initiatives within the Web3 space.
