Md Ala Uddin Stands for General Students, Election Postponed Following 9-Point Demand

Chattogram, September 11, 2025, 9:00 PM - The sudden announcement of the ACS Election-2025 under the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), BGC Trust University Bangladesh, created confusion and dissatisfaction among students. At this critical moment, Md. Ala Uddin, a student of the department and candidate for Vice President (VP), boldly stood up for the general students and raised a 9-point demand.

He strongly opposed holding the election during the ongoing examination period, stating that it goes against the academic interests of the students. In protest, he demanded the immediate postponement of the election and proposed 9 specific measures to ensure a fair, transparent, and student-friendly election process.

Key Points of Md. Ala Uddin's 9 Demands:

1️⃣ Voting must not be conducted classroom-to-classroom; rather, it should take place in a designated common room (such as Room No. 118) with ballot booths under CCTV surveillance.
2️⃣ If any teacher is found directly or indirectly involved in campaigning, strict disciplinary action must be taken against them, and the concerned candidate's nomination must be canceled.
3️⃣ A five-member Election Committee must be formed under the leadership of the Chairman, and the names of the members must not be disclosed before the election.
4️⃣ Voting must be conducted based on ballot numbers, not symbols.
5️⃣ During vote counting, the presence of the Chairman and the Registrar/Assistant Registrar must be ensured.
6️⃣ The results must be announced in the designated room at the designated time.
7️⃣ The election schedule must be announced in advance.
8️⃣ The confidentiality of each voter must be strictly ensured.
9️⃣ The entire election must be completed in a single day, not over two days.

University Administration's Decision

In response to his demands, the Election Commissioner and Department Chairman called an emergency meeting on September 14 with all candidates present. After detailed discussion, the majority of Md. Ala Uddin's demands were acknowledged as justified. As a result, the election was officially postponed, and the new dates were set for October 13-14, 2025. Additionally, a fixed campaign period was also announced to maintain order and fairness.

Students' Reaction
General students expressed their satisfaction, saying: "Md. Ala Uddin is not just another candidate; he is the true voice and representative of students' rights."
