NexLearn Offers Breakthrough Simulation Technology

Press release from: NexLearn

Wichita, Kans., February 1, 2006 – NexLearn, LLC, a leading provider of academic and business education software, today announced the release of its proprietary social simulation development tool, SimWriter™ version 1.5. This breakthrough technology, offering the capability to create engaging training content in a fraction of the time and at a fraction of the cost of traditional development methods, is the first of its kind to offer ease-of-use features such as image and background libraries, a simulation Wizard and build-on-the-fly engineering.

Notable features of SimWriter include:
• Support for both SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004
• Support for image, audio, video, text or Flash (or any combination of media types) in simulations
• Playback of SimWriter-created simulation files on any browser supporting Flash 6 or above
• Built-in SimWizard and pre-populated environments and characters for rapid simulation development

Social simulations, or "scenario-based branching stories," are used to simulate human social interaction or conversations. "We created the technology to enhance our development capabilities and custom products, but then we saw that training departments were becoming sophisticated enough to use this tool themselves," said Michael Cooper, NexLearn president. “We use it for our own custom development, and now everyone has access to the same professional-grade technology.”

SimWriter’s flexibility stems from a stage-based mapping system that allows a developer to focus on creating storylines, not code. Authoring simulations in this way eliminates the “development team” model and allows a single person to write, design and build a dynamic training experience in less time and for a lower cost than ever before. SimWriter gives every organization the power to create simulations that meet specific learning goals and technical capabilities.

There are different pricing models to license the SimWriter technology based on the organization using the tool. Academic, Business and Developer license models are all available, as is custom training, consulting or development by the professionals at NexLearn.

Philip Sueper, NexLearn simulation architect and member of the SimWriter development team, believes the new technology has the potential to alter the e-Learning industry. “The impact will be great because SimWriter opens the doors for more people to have a hand in developing focused and meaningful training.”
