Change in Management at The Project Group (TPG)

The change provides ideal conditions for the international focus on modern software products for project, portfolio and resource management (PPRM)

Munich, 04/09/2025 - After 27 years at the top of The Project Group Informationstechnologie (TPG) alongside two managing partners, Stavros Georgantzis handed over his operational role and executive management to new CEO Volker Schinkel on 1 September 2025, for private reasons. Schinkel will be supported by the existing C-level team, Johann Strasser (Managing Director and CPO), Hans Kuen (COO), Martin Hespe (CSO), Marta Szabo (CFO), and Dr. Thomas Henkelmann (Business Development Manager and Managing Director for TPG Germany and TPG Switzerland). However, Georgantzis will remain strategically involved with the company as a member of the advisory board.

Georgantzis founded TPG in 1998 with the vision of integrating software tools for project management and the financial world. This led to the creation of TPG PSLink, a globally used integration solution that initially enabled bidirectional data exchange between Microsoft Project and SAP and has been expanded over the years to integrate numerous other systems. Under his leadership, TPG developed into an international full-service provider and Microsoft Partner for project, portfolio, and resource management (PPRM). In recent years, the share of the company's own software products in the overall business has grown significantly - led by TPG ProjectPowerPack, a comprehensive PPRM product based on Microsoft 365 and Power Platform.

In 2022, Georgantzis successfully led TPG into a private equity partnership with the Alpina Group and supported the strategic realignment. "With the current management team and the new international structure, I see TPG as perfectly equipped for continued success as a leading provider of PPRM software and consulting," says Georgantzis.

The new CEO, Volker Schinkel, has extensive management experience in software companies and has worked with the investor Alpina Partners for many years, for example as CEO of Modula Group. In other positions as the General Manager of Aptean in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, and as CCO of GSG Genii Software Group, Schinkel has gained a wealth of experience in the development of software companies. He therefore brings with him all the prerequisites for the further growth of TPG as a product company. "The handover of Stavros' role to me went smoothly - and I look forward to continuing TPG's successful development, together with the international team," explains Schinkel.
