FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

African Sovereign Fund Launches to Accelerate Strategic Investment Across the Continent
August 29, 2025 - The African Sovereign Fund (ASF) today announced its official launch, a pan‐African investment platform designed to mobilize long‐term, patient capital into strategic sectors that power inclusive growth, resilience, and economic transformation across Africa.
ASF will partner with governments, development finance institutions, and private investors to catalyze flagship programs in infrastructure, energy transition, food security, healthcare, digital economy, and industrialization.
Mandate & Value Proposition
• Mobilize blended, catalytic capital to unlock large‐scale, high‐impact investments aligned with national development plans and Agenda 2063.
• Invest across the capital structure - equity, quasi‐equity, and credit - to crowd in private capital and de‐risk priority projects.
• Localize value creation through supply‐chain development, skills transfer, and technology partnerships.
• Enhance macro‐resilience by deepening African capital markets and offering instruments tailored to sovereign needs.
Priority Sectors
• Sustainable Infrastructure: transport corridors, ports & airports, water & sanitation, resilient cities.
• Energy Transition: renewables, grid modernization, storage, and energy efficiency.
• Food & Agriculture: climate‐smart agriculture, cold‐chain logistics, agro‐processing.
• Healthcare: primary care networks, local manufacturing of essential medicines and devices.
• Digital & Industrialization: connectivity, data infrastructure, manufacturing zones, and SME industrial parks.
Partnership Model
ASF will originate, structure, and co‐invest alongside sovereign and sub‐sovereign partners, DFIs, pension funds, and strategic investors. The platform is built to align incentives across stakeholders, strengthen project preparation, and accelerate time‐to‐close through standardized frameworks.
Governance & Impact
Anchored in rigorous governance, ASF applies robust risk management, ESG safeguards, and transparency standards. Impact is measured against clear KPIs including jobs created, local content, emissions avoided, essential‐service access, and fiscal multipliers.
Leadership Commentary
"Africa is at an inflection point. By channeling patient, well‐structured capital into strategic priorities, the African Sovereign Fund will help countries execute their development agendas at scale," said the ASF leadership team. "We are focused on bankable solutions that deliver tangible outcomes for citizens and durable value for our partners."
How ASF Invests
• Capital Instruments: equity, mezzanine, senior secured debt, guarantees, and co‐investment vehicles.
• Project Enablement: preparation facilities, feasibility funding, and standardized PPP frameworks.
• Risk Mitigation: political‐risk and credit‐enhancement solutions to crowd in private capital.
• Local Market Development: support for listing pathways, diaspora participation, and bond programs.
