This method uses methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) as the feedstock, which undergoes cracking at temperatures between 300-400°C in the presence of an acidic catalyst to generate isobutylene and methanol. The reaction is straightforward, and the products are easy to separate. Methanol, a valuable by-product, can be recovered for reuse or sold externally. Methyl Methacrylate (MMA) represents the largest downstream application of isobutylene, accounting for the highest consumption share.
