Starring Christa Rose (Stalked by My Stepsister) as Stephanie Spencer and Colleen Elizabeth Miller (Better Call Saul, Killing It) as the sinister Katherine Spencer, this chilling tale of family betrayal is poised to become a classic in the vein of The Hand That Rocks the Cradle.
In A Mother-in-Law's Obsession, struggling young widow Stephanie Spencer welcomes her estranged mother-in-law, Katherine, who arrives to help with newborn baby Oliver. At first, Katherine's support-cooking, cleaning, and even paying bills-seems like a dream come true. But Stephanie's relief turns to terror as she uncovers Katherine's dark obsession: to claim baby Oliver as her own at any cost. This heart-pounding thriller explores the lengths one woman will go to protect her child against a brilliant and remorseless foe.
"Colleen Elizabeth Miller brings both laughter and surprising depth to her portrayal of the insidious mother-in-law Katherine, perfectly balanced by Christa Rose's grounded performance as a struggling young widow and mother," said writer/director John Burd. Adding authenticity to the story, Christa Rose stars alongside her real-life newborn son, Oliver, who was just seven weeks old on the first day of filming, delivering a uniquely emotional performance.
Directed and written by John Burd in his third feature film, A Mother-in-Law's Obsession marks the fifth collaboration between Evenow Productions and Title One Films, and their fourth project filmed in the scenic city of Duluth, Minnesota, in partnership with the Minnesota Film Office and the Upper Midwest Film Office. The film's stunning backdrop and taut storytelling make it a standout addition to Lifetime Movie Club's thrilling lineup.
