ITALY - GreenGo kicks off 19 MWp Solar Construction in Sicily and Marche

Kick-off of Independent Power Producer activities with top-tier contractors ahead of the FER X Transitional Auctions. Among the projects, 8 MW of agrivoltaic capacity supported by the Agrivoltaic Decree (PNRR)

Bologna, 5 August 2025 - GreenGo, an Italian renewable energy plant developer and Independent Power Producer (IPP), announces the launch of an industrial partnership with Gruppo Altea and Industrie D'Amico Service Srl for the construction of four new utility-scale photovoltaic plants located across Sicily and the Marche region. Currently under construction, the projects will have a total peak capacity of 19 MW, marking the start of GreenGo's industrial implementation of its IPP model.

According to production estimates, the new plants will generate around 36 GWh of electricity per year using high-efficiency technologies such as bifacial modules on single-axis trackers. This energy will be able to meet the annual electricity needs of around 15,000 average households, based on ARERA data on residential electricity demand. In environmental terms, the generation will help avoid approximately 14,900 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually (source coefficient: ISPRA).

This initiative forms part of GreenGo's industrial strategy to establish itself as a fully integrated operator capable of developing, constructing, and managing renewable energy plants independently. The €32.6 million financing secured from Intesa Sanpaolo and the ten-year power purchase agreement with Sasol Italy signed in 2024 are key strategic pillars supporting this transformation. As recently announced, GreenGo aims to exceed 200 MWp of owned operational capacity by 2026.

The four plants under construction - Dirillo (0.6 MWp, Acate - RG), Poggiarelli (5 MWp, Caltagirone - CT), Soparita (8 MWp, Vizzini - CT), and Pianaccio (5.3 MWp, Mondavio - PU) - follow a technical layout featuring the installation of around 34,500 PV modules, over 1,000 trackers, and a network of 65 Huawei inverters, all designed to ensure efficiency, modularity, and high construction standards.

"We've entered a phase in which our 'light IPP' model is fully taking shape: GreenGo now finances, builds, and manages its own plants, selecting EPC partners that share our industrial vision and quality standards," said Giuseppe Mastropieri, CEO of GreenGo. "Partnering with well-established companies like Industrie D'Amico and agile players like Gruppo Altea allows us to combine technical expertise, local presence, and long-term vision."

The Pianaccio site in the Marche region is managed by Industrie D'Amico, a general contractor from Puglia based in Brindisi, boasting over a century of experience in civil and industrial construction and the development of major energy infrastructures across Italy. Indeed, Industrie D'Amico has been a key player in building photovoltaic parks, substations, and biomass energy plants since the first two Conto Energia programmes.
The other three plants - Dirillo, Poggiarelli and Soparita - are handled by Gruppo Altea, a rapidly growing Sicilian company active in the energy transition, electric mobility, and digitalisation sectors. In particular, the Soparita plant has been developed as an agrivoltaic project and co-financed through PNRR funds.

"This initiative has great strategic value: it allows us to test and implement our IPP model in regions where we've been active for years, with energy production starting as early as 2025 and laying the groundwork for participation in the FER X transitional auctions starting in September, thanks also to the strength and reliability of our contractors," explained Fabio Amico, CTO of GreenGo. "Partnerships with qualified companies are central. With Altea and D'Amico, the collaboration is already effective and delivering tangible operational results. We're also confident about future synergies, which could include wind technologies and expand our industrial scope even further."

For Gruppo Altea, the agreement is an opportunity to leverage its technical expertise and strong regional presence:

"Partnering with an ambitious player like GreenGo means bringing our expertise as an EPC contractor into the field and actively contributing to the development of a renewable energy supply chain capable of generating value and employment in Southern Italy. It's a step that strengthens our industrial role in the renewable energy sector, with a pragmatic, results-driven approach rooted in the regions where we have always operated. Working together in a synergistic and hands-on manner is, for us, the key to accelerating Italy's energy transition," said Stefano Finocchiaro, CEO of Gruppo Altea.

This shared vision was echoed by Industrie D'Amico, whose CEO, Vincenzo D'Amico, stated:

"Industrie D'Amico brings its multidisciplinary expertise to GreenGo in a formidable collaboration that allows us to capitalise on a unique wealth of skills in the development of large-scale plants and the integration of energy infrastructures into the territory. We strongly support a model that combines innovation, sustainability, and execution capacity, hoping this partnership will continue in a constructive and dynamic way."

The first plant to go online will be Dirillo, whose construction will be completed after the summer, with commissioning expected in Q4 2025, along with Pianaccio, Soparita and Poggiarelli will follow in Q2 2026. In this way, GreenGo aims to begin energy production under the IPP model by the end of the year, strengthening its position as one of the most promising emerging players in the sector.
