Praised by the Edmonton Journal for her singing “… with sensuous warmth, great reserves of power and emotional expressiveness”, Barbara Fris is one of Canada's great singers.  Following her debut in 1984 with the Calgary Opera, the Canadian soprano has had a luminous career on the international opera, concert and recital stages, captivating audiences with her evocative portrayals of opera heroines, her concert performances and recitals -- always to critical and audience acclaim. Miss Fris' personal charisma and vocal beauty continue to endear her to audiences.
Launching a new season on a high note with 'Music-On-The-Hill', she appears with Canadian conductor William Shookoff, best known for his work with mirvish.com in the inaugural Canadian production of Les Miserables, and the Canadian Tour and Toronto productions of Phantom of the Opera. Come hear their programme that includes Handel and Puccini arias, Schubert Lieder, Classical Spanish Songs by Fernando Obradors and Spring audience favorites.
