Long An International Port Signs Strategic Partnership With Chinese Partners, Enhancing Regional Maritime Connectivity And Developing Vietnam-China Logistics Network

The tripartite signing ceremony between Long An International Port, SPG Bohaiwan Port, and Bohwa Shipping
This landmark event marks a significant milestone in strengthening international integration, enhancing supply chain connectivity, and strengthening the strategic role of Long An International Port within both regional and global logistics networks.
The tripartite cooperation agreement aims to enhance international networks and develop a modern, green logistics corridor.
Shandong Bohaiwan Port is located at the heart of the Shandong Peninsula, a key industrial and logistics hub in Northern China, offering strong connectivity to neighboring coastal economic zones.
Bohwa Shipping is a professional maritime transport operator, equipped with a modern fleet and a global supply chain network, playing a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless and efficient flow of imports and exports.
Located in the new Tay Ninh Province, Long An International Port sits at the gateway to Southern Vietnam's key economic region. It serves as a strategic intersection within the region's multi-layered logistics corridor, linking the Southeastern region via Ho Chi Minh City - the country's largest economic center, the Mekong Delta - Vietnam's leading agricultural export hub, and playing a pivotal role in both domestic and international trade. With modern infrastructure and the capacity to handle vessels of up to 70,000 DWT, along with a full range of integrated logistics services, the port is steadily striving to become a leading logistics and transshipment hub in the region.
The tripartite strategic partnership between Long An International Port, Shandong Bohaiwan Port, and Bohwa Shipping brings together three key drivers in shaping an integrated logistics ecosystem, spanning port operations, maritime transport, and support services. This synergy not only helps optimize costs for regional businesses and improve operational performance across all parties but also plays a vital role in fostering sustainable development and advancing a green supply chain between the two economies.
Building on this foundation, the three parties have agreed to establish a new maritime corridor - "Two Ports, One Route" - directly connecting Northern China and Southern Vietnam. This new route is expected to increase two-way cargo flow and strengthen bilateral trade between Vietnam and China.
Mr. Cui Tiecheng, Deputy General Director of Shandong Port Group (SPG) said, "Today's collaboration stems from a shared vision among the parties, shaped through practical exploration and reinforced by promising initial results. Since the official launch of the two-way shipping route between Vietnam and Weifang Port, Shandong, China in August last year, this connection has successfully completed 15 voyages, transporting over 370,000 tons of high-value goods, including corn fiber, advanced industrial equipment, raw materials, and more. Notably, in April 2025, a Vietnamese general cargo vessel arrived successfully at Long An International Port from a bay located in the heart of the Liaodong Peninsula (Liaoning Province), marking a breakthrough in direct maritime route operations. These achievements have not only laid a solid foundation for the signing of today's strategic agreement, but also clearly demonstrate the immense potential and promising prospects of this tripartite cooperation."
He further said that SPG Bohaiwan Port Group is eager to cooperate with Long An International Port and Bohwa Shipping to develop the "Weifang Port (China) to Long An International Port (Tay Ninh, Vietnam)" route into an exemplary showcase for economic and trade collaboration between the two countries. The initiative also aims to expand the export of strategic products from both China and Vietnam to global markets. The leadership of Shandong Bohaiwan Port also recognizes shared development goals with Long An International Port, particularly in areas such as continuous infrastructure upgrades, smart port management, decarbonisation strategies, and the pursuit of becoming a sustainable, green port.
According to the agreement, the parties will strengthen cooperation in key areas, including the expansion of route networks based on the consolidation and enhancement of Long An International Port's existing general cargo services; active exploration of expanded and diverse shipping routes for container and dry bulk cargo; introduction of additional support services such as customs, financial, and insurance to create a comprehensive logistics network; and the establishment of specialized logistics centers focused on exporting machinery and equipment, importing agricultural products, and supporting industrialization in both regions, thereby contributing to top-notch economic development in both localities.
The Sister Port Agreement lays the foundation for long-term cooperation between the two strategic logistics hubs
The event also marked the signing of the Sister Port Agreement between Long An International Port and Shandong Bohaiwan Port. Through this partnership, both sides share a common goal of enhancing and leveraging port resources, strengthening maritime transport and trade, and promoting the exchange of information and technology. Built on mutual goodwill, the agreement opens the door to deeper cooperation and encourages broader regional integration.
With the desire to contribute to local economic development, Mr. Vo Quoc Huy, Chairman of the Board of Long An International Port, shared, "Following today's signing ceremony, Long An International Port will promptly share information to businesses in the region, helping them seize opportunities, consolidate cargo on fixed routes, and ultimately optimize logistics costs. With close coordination among all parties, this will pave the way for the development of a stable and sustainable two-way cargo flow, boost import-export activities between Vietnam and China, and gradually build a synergized, reliable, and efficient supply chain."
The parties expressed confidence in the significant increase in cargo volume resulting from multi-channel trade promotion of the China-Vietnam shipping route. The first step will be the establishment of a fixed shipping route between Weifang Port (part of the Shandong Port Cluster) and Long An International Port. This will serve as the foundation for both sides to capitalize on the advantages and potential of their respective regions. With corresponding support policies in place, the parties will have many opportunities to expand maritime transport capacity and scale, consolidate cargo sources, and increase the volume of goods flowing through the two ports.
Tay Ninh Province, Vietnam's new growth area after the merger
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Huynh Van Son, Vice Chairman of the Tay People's Committee of Tay Ninh Province, said, "Today's signing between Long An International Port and its partners Shandong Bohaiwan Port and Bohwa Shipping marks the beginning of a new phase of development. It opens up significant opportunities for integrating into regional and global logistics supply chains, enhancing Tay Ninh Province's competitiveness and position within the international trade network. In particular, the launch of a regular international shipping route is not only meaningful in promoting trade facilitation but also a practical solution to reduce logistics costs and improve competitiveness for businesses in the region. This initiative will serve as a key driver positively contributing to regional economic development by attracting investment, expanding international cooperation, and forming new supply chains with regional and global reach."
In the first half of 2025, Tay Ninh Province recorded an estimated Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) growth rate of 9.63%, ranking first among provinces and cities in Southern Vietnam, and 7th out of 34 localities nationwide. Currently, the province has over 37,000 registered businesses with a total registered capital exceeding VND 911.935 trillion. There are 46 operational industrial parks with a total planned area of over 13,900 hectares. As part of its new development orientation, Tay Ninh has identified logistics as a strategic priority sector, playing a pivotal role in connecting the production system, import-export activities, border trade, and regional markets. Accordingly, the province continues to make strong investments in enhancing transport infrastructure to comprehensively link economic zones. The Tay Ninh government is committed to creating the most favorable conditions and to working closely with partners in advancing the next phases of development. This includes effectively leveraging maritime transport routes, logistics hubs, port service zones, and synchronized supply chains to foster two-way trade flows between Vietnam, China, and other countries, contributing to local economic growth, and reinforcing Tay Ninh's position on the global logistics map, Mr. Son emphasized.
In the context of global supply chains being restructured toward sustainability, cost optimization, and greater adaptability, the strong collaboration between Long An International Port, Shandong Bohaiwan Port, and Bohwa Shipping will contribute to the development of a multi-layered logistics ecosystem which is technology-driven, environmentally friendly, and geared towards long-term growth.
