Uralchem Implements Digital Solutions at Ugandan Farm

AgroSignal, a leading digital platform for agribusiness management and part of Uralchem Group, launched a pilot project to implement its IT solutions at a private crop farm in Uganda. The practical testing and adaptation of the platform will take place over the course of a year.

The project spans across 500 hectares planted with soybeans and maize, which are key food crops in this East African country. The expected benefits of the digital system include up to a 30% reduction in agricultural input costs, as well as increased productivity and crop yields.

AgroSignal's high-tech solutions, refined over a decade of use by major agricultural companies in Russia and the CIS, are capable of addressing complex farm management challenges - many of which are also relevant to Africa.

The implementation in Uganda is facilitated by local partners, including agricultural consultants who provide initial technical support and user training. The pilot project also aims to adapt some of AgroSignal's services to meet the needs of local farmers and find solutions that could prove valuable not just for Uganda but for Africa as a whole.

Essentially, African farmers face mainly the same challenges that we have been addressing for domestic and neighbouring agribusinesses for more than a decade. The digitalisation project will streamline management of this Ugandan farm, boost its efficiency, and ultimately increase profitability of operations. The practical outcomes of this project will shape AgroSignal's expansion strategy across the African continent.
