Press release from: apurimac media

Apurimac Media and Yahoo! Inc. partner to bring compelling online marketing solutions to South Africa.

CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA, 1st April 2008 -- Apurimac Media, a leading South African-based digital ad sales and marketing company, today announced a new strategic partnership with Yahoo! Inc. that will enable local advertisers to reach millions of Yahoo! users in South Africa.

Through the partnership, Apurimac will act as a reseller for Yahoo!’s local advertising inventory and help Yahoo! expand its presence into the South African market. The two companies will work together to satisfy a growing demand for online products and services on the African continent.

Sello Leshope, Strategy Planning Director at advertising agency Ogilvy Cape Town, endorsed the relevance of the partnership between Apurimac and Yahoo!: “Gone are the days of the passive consumer. Customers have become more discerning and sophisticated in their purchasing behaviour, with the result that marketers have to be more innovative than ever before to attract their prospective audience. Customers are looking for quality interaction with brands, not to be spoken down to.” Yahoo! provides this interaction, with new, more effective ways to engage South Africans online.

Will Green, Managing Director of Apurimac Media is confident his company possesses the requisite wherewithal to deliver online campaigns that are responsive to the needs of an ever-changing audience. “I am confident that the partnership will be able to provide services commensurate with Yahoo!’s profile as a global leader in the industry and in the process dramatically change the way local businesses market their products to consumers,” said Green.

“Yahoo! is a pioneer within the industry, with over a million South African consumers already taking advantage of Yahoo!’s friendly search, mail, messenger and personalized content. The opportunities and reach for South African businesses are endless,” Green added.

Marvin Liao, Director Global Sales Development for Yahoo! added: “Consumers are increasingly able to choose which content they access, where, and in what format and advertisers are looking for the most effective ways to target these audiences. Yahoo! provides a powerful solution for helping marketers reach the right audience in the right place at the right time.”.

Apurimac is a leading South African-based company with a growing international reputation specialising in digital media and marketing solutions. The combined credentials of Yahoo! and Apurimac make this partnership mutually beneficial and the synergy itself represents a perfect meeting of like-minded practitioners.
