Nevada Legal Services Recognized Nationally for Innovative Statewide Legal Kiosk Network

Las Vegas, NV - Nevada Legal Services (NLS) is proud to announce its feature in the Legal Services Corporation's (LSC) Model Practices & Innovations (MPI) rural justice series for its groundbreaking statewide legal kiosk project.
The feature highlights how NLS, in partnership with libraries across Nevada, installed a network of 28 legal kiosks throughout the state to help residents - especially those in underserved areas, both rural and urban - access legal information and resources, receive assistance, and connect virtually with legal professionals.
Each kiosk provides:
• Secure computer and internet access
• Online legal forms and self-help materials from trusted sources
• Ability to attend virtual court appearances and legal consultations
• Bilingual (English and Spanish) and ADA-compliant interface
This initiative is a shining example of how legal aid organizations can use technology and community partnerships to meet people where they are. "[We] were inspired in part by the LSC Public Library Initiative ... It was something to help the librarians and public together because, of course, libraries are the community resources where people go for information." Susan Myers, Litigation Director of Nevada Legal Services.
LSC commended the project in its MPI series, which documents innovative practices among its grantees aimed at increasing legal access in hard-to-reach areas. Nevada Legal Services' kiosk project stands out for its scope, collaboration, and potential as a replicable model nationwide.
