Low-cost Adventouring? Participation in the Sterrare e Umano Trophy 2025 with the QJ SRT 600 SX

This time we went big: together with QJMOTOR [https://global.qjmotor.com/], we participated in one of the most important Italian Adventouring events, the Sterrare e Umano Trophy 2025. However, since we don't like simple things and wanted to put one of the most intriguing bikes of recent months to the test, we decided to participate with a QJMOTOR SRT 600 SX. This is the road crossover with a 19-inch front wheel, left exactly as you would pick it up from the dealership.

If you add that the rider was also making his debut in the world of Adventouring, all the prerequisites for a disaster could have been there. A street bike just as QJ made it, street tires, an experienced rider but certainly not an Enduro rider for the Erzberg Rodeo: what could possibly go wrong?

In reality, we took the necessary precautions: the SRT 600 SX [https://global.qjmotor.com/m/car.html?id=241]was freed from its standard aluminum pannier set (though keeping the support frame). We added the Interphone Ridesync to always have our mobile phone applications in sight, especially navigation apps, which are essential for participating in the Sterrare e Umano Trophy 2025. We also clarified with the Organizer that in case of mud or unsuitable terrain for our standard Metzeler Tourance tires, we would simply refuse to tackle them to avoid unnecessary dangers. Only in this way did the Organization ratify our participation.

Sterrare e Umano Trophy: What it is

Simply imagine having a territory like Abruzzo at your disposal, generous in terms of landscapes, hospitality, and arrosticini, and finding a community of enthusiasts who design increasingly difficult tracks for you (Soft, Dual, and Mono: we did the Soft) to get lost in the most fascinating Abruzzese landscapes while practicing the discipline you like most.

The Sterrare e Umano Trophy 2025 took place over three days, centered around a real "village" that from Silvi - with daisy-chain itineraries, but a Marathon stage is planned for next year - took us on a journey through dirt roads and asphalt, but also across fields, mountains, and hidden paths to fall in love with. We were lucky, they say: it hadn't rained in the previous days, so there was minimal mud. However, the little mud that was there sometimes advised the author to tackle the section with necessary caution or to bypass it to avoid creating difficulties for anyone or causing damage. The Tourance are excellent road tires that allow for some light off-road excursions, but they have no jurisdiction in mud due to their precise design placement, let's be clear.

The result was three challenging days, the author has no difficulty admitting : the Soft track was not always so "soft" in places, and the SRT 600 SX is not designed for this specific use. However, the aim of our participation was to see if, with a bike that costs a fraction of some highly specialized bikes seen at these events, one could complete them with reasonable safety and, above all, have fun. Well, the answer is that with common sense and a lot of caution, accepting your own limits and those of the bike, a light track with a good 40% asphalt is absolutely feasible. At the end of the three days, the Adventouring bug got to us, and it is very likely that you will see me at a future event, you've been warned.

A few words must be spent on the organization, to which absolute applause must be paid , because it must not be easy to obtain permits (even for the beach, which could be ridden for a short stretch on Saturday morning: we avoided it). It's also difficult to trace three different itineraries for the three categories that, more or less, start and arrive at the same times and places , keep everyone under control with a mandatory app for tracking (and therefore for safety, but not for navigation) , welcome three hundred bikes and thousands of people in the village for three days of celebration, and also manage the inconveniences that, unfortunately, are always lurking.
