Urban Edge Network Partners with SCLC for Social Justice and Economic Empowerment
Image: https://www.abnewswire.com/upload/2025/07/02659c90ee7c5fd7ba17d849d467eb47.jpgJuly 3, 2025 - Atlanta, GA - Urban Edge Network (UEN), a leading Black-owned sports and lifestyle media company, is proud to announce a groundbreaking partnership with the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), one of the most storied civil rights organizations in American history. This collaboration aims to advance economic equity and social justice by harnessing the power of media, advertising, and community action.
The strategic alliance is designed to address a longstanding gap in advertising equity by ensuring that major advertising holding companies fulfill their commitments to invest in Black-owned media. UEN will lead outreach, negotiations, and media activations with these agencies, while SCLC will provide influential institutional support, legal insight, and public advocacy to help enforce corporate accountability.
"This partnership is more than symbolic-it's structural," said Hardy L. Pelt, Founding Member and Chief Revenue Officer of UEN. "Together, UEN and SCLC will create an innovative framework that uses advertising dollars not only to support Black-owned media but to reinvest directly into the communities that need it most. We're not just building media reach-we're building a movement rooted in justice and sustainability."
The collaboration stands as a new model for how mission-driven media platforms and civil rights organizations can work in tandem to both amplify community voices and drive tangible social and economic impact. A portion of all UEN advertising revenue generated through this initiative will go toward SCLC programs, ensuring ongoing investment in civic empowerment and community-based justice efforts.
"Change is rarely symbolic," said DeMark Liggins, President and CEO of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. "Change requires substance. Change requires accountability and we will hold companies accountable to their own words and their own promises to our community. Further, we can't in good conscience allow "Black" media to be purposely de-valued by companies who alleged to the value of the Black consumer. This partnership with UEN aligns with this sentiment and our communities will be the better from our collaboration."
