Heard Well Co-Founder Connor Franta Hit With $1M Lawsuit Alleging Gross Misconduct

Connor Franta, co-founder of the music label Heard Well, has been named in a $1 million lawsuit filed by fellow co-founder Jeremy Wineberg. The legal filing accuses Franta of breaching his obligations to the company, failing to contribute to its operations, and engaging in conduct that damaged its ability to function.

Filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, the cross-complaint follows a separate lawsuit Franta filed in December 2024, in which he accused Wineberg and co-founder Andrew Graham of misusing company funds. Wineberg and Graham have denied those allegations and stated they will vigorously defend themselves in court.

In his newly filed lawsuit, Wineberg presents a different version of events. According to the complaint, Heard Well was formed in 2015 with clearly defined roles. Wineberg, an experienced music executive and founder of Opus Label, would lead day-to-day operations. Graham would use his contacts as a manager or agent to bring deal flow to the company. Franta, who had a large social media following, was expected to promote Heard Well's catalog through his platforms.

Wineberg alleges that while he and Graham fulfilled their roles, Franta failed to uphold his end of the agreement. The complaint claims Franta routinely ignored company communications, declined to participate in meetings or decisions, and did not deliver on his promotional commitments. Despite his limited involvement, Franta continued to be publicly associated with the company, creating what Wineberg describes as a misleading perception of leadership.

The lawsuit further claims that Franta attempted to remove Wineberg from the company without legal authority and made repeated demands for documents that had already been provided. Wineberg states that these actions disrupted internal operations and damaged the company's stability.
The cross-complaint includes four causes of action. Breach of contract. Breach of the implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing. Breach of fiduciary duty. Member expulsion under California Corporations Code Section 17706.02.
Wineberg is seeking over one million dollars in damages, including punitive relief and attorneys' fees, and is asking the court to formally remove Franta from the company. Both lawsuits remain active. No court has ruled on the claims made by either party.
