Réhahn explores the emotion of Impressionist photography in a new fine art book captured across Vietnam's shifting light.

French photographic artist Réhahn has released a new fine art book titled Impressionism: From Photography to Painting, a hardcover publication exploring the connection between photography, painting, and emotion. Captured during his travels across Vietnam, the collection reimagines the Impressionist approach through modern photography, using light, movement, and texture to create poetic visual experiences.

Réhahn is best known for his ethnographic portraits and cultural preservation work in Vietnam. In this latest project, however, his style evolves toward something more fluid and interpretive. Photographs such as Oasis, Flame, and Luminous illustrate this shift. From reflections on still water to the haze of burning fields, the images replace sharp detail with mood and atmosphere.

The book contains over 100 photographs and is structured thematically, inspired by the principles of Impressionist painters: natural light, fleeting moments, and personal perception. Influences of Japonism can also be seen in the quiet balance and spatial sensitivity of the compositions.

Beyond its visuals, the book opens a thoughtful question: Does Impressionist photography exist? Without attempting to define the term, Réhahn approaches the topic as an artist, blending research, observation, and experimentation. His goal is not to replicate reality, but to explore how photography can slow time, engage memory, and stir emotion.

In an era dominated by digital perfection, the book offers a return to softness and subtlety. Réhahn's images encourage the viewer to pause, to feel, not just to look.
