Health Quality Innovators (HQI) Selected to Advance Health Care Quality in the Southeastern U.S.

[Richmond, VA] - Health Quality Innovators (HQI), a leading national non-profit health quality consulting organization, has been awarded a five-year contract by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to serve as the Quality Innovation Network-Quality Improvement Organization (QIN-QIO) for the Southeast Region, which includes North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama and Mississippi.

This award is part of CMS's newly transformed QIO program, which streamlines quality improvement efforts across seven geographic regions, each supported by a single QIN-QIO delivering tailored support to CMS selected hospitals, nursing homes and outpatient clinicians.

Through the transformed QIO Program, HQI will partner with health care providers and stakeholders to address local needs, close gaps in care and deliver personalized support. Areas of focus include chronic disease management, patient safety, behavioral health, care coordination, emergency preparedness, workforce planning, supply chain management, drug shortages and cybersecurity.

The QIO Program is designed not only to enhance provider performance, but also to improve care experiences and outcomes for people with Medicare. By helping organizations implement proven quality improvement strategies, the program contributes to safer care environments, smoother care transitions, and better access to preventive and behavioral health services.
