Thousands of performers paraded through downtown Guiyang on Saturday, showcasing traditional costumes, dances and cultural heritage.

GUIYANG, China - On May 18,Starting at dawn, a grand celebration of ethnic unity unfolded across 2.3 kilometers of bustling city streets, from Zhonghua Road to Zhucheng Square - a symbolic journey from traditional city life to modern urban civilization. The 150-minute event featured more than 3,600 performers in 26 themed contingents, each representing a unique facet of Guizhou's culture, music, and intangible heritage.

The Ethnic Unity section kicked off the parade with the song "My Motherland and I," performed by 168 costumed participants representing various ethnic groups. Spectators lined the streets, capturing the vibrant scene on their phones as Miao silver ornaments jingled against Tibetan robe tassels, and Uyghur doppa hats mingled with Zhuang embroidered balls.

The Guiyang Roadside Concert formation overflowed with cheerful notes and drew particular acclaim, prompting calls for a "Street Grammy" nomination.
