The show follows the emotional story of a socially anxious boy who sets out to make 1,000 friends while attending Japan's most prestigious school, all to fulfill his mother's final wish.
1 Thousand Silent Steps blends emotional storytelling with authentic anime culture and features stunning animation and original music. The series is entirely self-produced by Kumori Animation Studio, based in the United States but dedicated to creating Japanese-inspired anime for a global audience.
"This is a story for anyone who has ever felt invisible," said McKenzie Hammonds, creator and director. "It's about hope, connection, and the journey toward self-acceptance."
The show will be released in 12 episodes on YouTube, with plans to expand into merchandise, light novels, and interactive fan events.
