Hamburg, March 29, 2025: The Bürgerhaus für Niendorf is working with a new cooperation partner to ensure greater safety in the district. Together with the TA WingTsun martial arts school in Hamburg, ongoing self-defense courses for children, young people and adults will be offered from April this year. In this way, the community center is not only offering Niendorf residents another exciting sporting activity, but is also taking a stand against violence and promoting social cohesion in the process.
Expansion of the social offering in Niendorf
For many years, the Bürgerhaus für Niendorf has stood for cultural diversity and the promotion of social activities in the district. In addition to yoga, art exhibitions and regular music events, the topic of safety is now also on the weekly agenda. From April 2025, the numerous offers will be supplemented by ongoing self-defense courses. The TA WingTsun martial arts school in Hamburg offers special classes for children, young people and adults. In future, participants of various age groups in the community center for Niendorf will benefit from a variety of sporting and social aspects in self-defense courses: from the early promotion of motor skills and self-assertion in childhood, to strengthening self-esteem and a sense of community in adolescence, to stress relief in professional life and the joy of learning an Asian martial art. The facets of these new courses in Niendorf are many and varied.
More than just a self-defense course
The martial art TA WingTsun, on which the new offer in Niendorf is based, was originally developed in China by a woman and today, with its intelligent system, ensures that even physically inferior people can defend themselves efficiently in a dangerous situation. Through practical training, participants at the Bürgerhaus für Niendorf are individually trained in theory, technique and application - from verbal de-escalation to defense at any conflict distance. The training is adapted to personal abilities and enables a tailor-made self-defense strategy that works reflexively in an emergency. This practice-oriented approach not only ensures greater safety in everyday life, but also strengthens self-confidence and the ability to remain calm in difficult situations. "We are looking forward to creating an environment in the Bürgerhaus Niendorf where everyone feels welcome, can develop their own potential and gradually go through life with new energy and more confidence," emphasizes Vivien Schlemminger, TA WingTsun instructor, who will lead the self-defence groups at this new TA WingTsun location together with Michael Kos. TA WingTsun martial arts is no stranger to Hamburg. Just last year, NDR television reported on the socially valuable work of the martial arts school with its Hamburg headquarters in Uhlenhorst. Since 2019, numerous members have been training there in age-appropriate groups - enjoying exercise and fitness while dedicating themselves to a martial art in order to fully exploit their potential. In addition, courses are offered at schools, foundations and companies in order to support people there with the knowledge and values of TA WingTsun. This was also recognized by politicians and representatives of public offices at a large celebration of the international martial arts association of TA WingTsun in the Wandsbek sports hall. Dr. Jonas Leder, Director of the State Sports Office, emphasized that TA WingTsun also perfectly supports Hamburg's "Active City" strategy. The offer is now being extended to Hamburg-Niendorf. Michael Kos is looking forward to the start of the course and explains: "With the new location in the community center for Niendorf, we want to further expand our social contribution and give even more people the opportunity to learn this martial art."
Course starts at the community center for Niendorf
From April 9, 2025, the new self-defense courses will start at the Bürgerhaus für Niendorf, which offers optimal conditions for safe and effective training in a friendly atmosphere. The course times are aimed at the following age groups:
* Children from 5 years: Wednesdays, 4:30 - 5:30 p.m.
* Teenagers aged 11 and over: Wednesdays, 5:45 - 6:45 p.m.
* Adults: Wednesdays, 19:00 - 20:30
Anyone interested is invited to take part in a free trial training session and experience this martial art at first hand. Special taster training sessions will be offered in April at the above-mentioned times, where all age groups can get to know the basics of TA WingTsun and try out their first techniques. This is an ideal opportunity to try out the training in the community center without any obligation and to see for yourself. To register for the trial training and for further information, visit the website www.lernekampfkunst.com or call 040 307 501 56. The TA WingTsun team is looking forward to welcoming numerous participants who not only want to discover a new sport, but also learn a Chinese martial art in a fun atmosphere and improve their safety in everyday life.

+++About Hamburg's TA WingTsun martial arts schools+++
Dominik Fischer opened Hamburg's first TA WingTsun martial arts school at Mundsburger Damm 26 in 22087 Hamburg back in 2019. More than 200 members now train in age-appropriate groups who enjoy exercise and fitness in general and want to boost their self-confidence and increase their athletic effectiveness and potential. TA WingTsun is a Chinese martial art based on a strict, logically thought-out self-defense system. The TA WingTsun martial arts school is part of the umbrella organization WTI (WingTsun International), which primarily focuses on violence prevention and self-defence and teaches important social values such as integration, tolerance, inclusion and the empowerment of women at various locations in Germany, Turkey and Spain. Principal Dominik Fischer, an active martial artist since 2007, is a qualified and equally passionate TA WingTsun teacher who has held the title of "Sifu", which means "fatherly teacher", since November 11, 2023. In this role, he accompanies students - from children and teenagers to adults - on their martial arts journey. Not only in his own martial arts school, but also in kindergartens, schools, companies and as a personal trainer. Due to the increasing demand for more courses in other parts of Hamburg, a second Hamburg location of the TA WingTsun martial arts school in Niendorf will be open to martial arts enthusiasts from April 9th.
