About the Author:

Chaya Lerner is a clinical social worker, chaplain, and president of the Rabbinic Pastors Association. Ordained in 2021 through the Aleph Ordination Program, she has committed her life to working with trauma survivors. With clinical expertise in psychology, social work, and Jewish texts, she has been a pioneer and advocate for vulnerable populations, particularly first working with AIDS patients and Holocaust survivors. Decades of service to marginalized peoples have shaped Lerner's journey into Rabbinic Pastoring and clinical social work. During the terrible fall of the Champlain Towers, Chaya was a first responder whose knowledge and empathy were put to the test. She still has an impact on her community and is currently the President of the Rabbinic Pastors Association. Chaya lives in Miami with her partner and their cat, Sweetie.
