Category 42: Historic Preservation/Restoration - 'Preserving Double the History, Revitalizing the Unique Potential Within.' This restoration saved a historic 1888 Victorian duplex, located in the Sherman Hill National Historic District in Des Moines, Iowa, from demolition. Silent Rivers preserved its original charm while updating functionality, and overcoming major structural challenges with master craftsmanship and innovative solutions.
Category 49: Aging in Place - 'Accessibly Elegant Kitchen and Dining Remodel.' When it comes to home remodeling, accessibility plays a crucial role in ensuring that spaces remain functional and comfortable for all residents, especially those with mobility challenges.
