Aniline, also known as phenylamine or aminobenzene, is an aromatic amine produced by successive nitration and hydrogenation of benzene in the presence of a metal catalyst. It is used primarily in the production of MDI (Methylene diphenyl diisocyanate). MDI is further employed in the manufacture of polyurethane foams, elastomers, adhesives and sealants. Large volume share of aniline produced globally is utilized in the manufacture of MDI.
