Multicon Solar wins the prestigious energy globe award for its mobile solar container

Marrakesh / Duisburg - Multicon Solar receives the world's most prestigious environmental prize, the “Energy Globe World Award 2016”, for its patented, mobile solar container. Out of 78 countries present at the awards ceremony of the UN Climate Conference in Marrakesh, with more than 2,000 submitted projects, it was Multicon’s sustainability project that came out on top.
“Energy is the basis for economic development and a better standard of living. That is why a Co2-neutral form of energy production is very important. This outstanding solution shows us how we can replace diesel generators in the short term,” said jury member and president of the “Center for Sustainability & Economic Growth / USA” Don Baker, explaining his decision.

-Turnkey solar systems-
The Multicon Solarcontainer provides a turnkey solar system with built-in battery and intelligent energy management system. On site, the wired photovoltaic modules merely have to be pulled out of the container. In the event of dangers such as sand storms, thunder storms or vandalism, the modules can be stored safely in the container again. Each container can be easily transported on a two-axle HGV. This is also very important for rapid-response missions after disasters.

“This award puts our efforts in the development of mobile solar power plants in the public eye and shows that we are heading in the right direction,” said Bernhard Bauersachs, CEO of the Multicon Group.

-Storage capacity of 150 kWh of solar power-
Each solar container has a capacity of up to 86 kWp and stores up to 150 kWh of solar power. They can generate single-phase or three-phase power. Any number of containers can be coupled together and can therefore even cope with power needs of several megawatts. This also makes it possible to cover the electricity needs of hospitals, refugee camps, water desalination plants and hotel facilities.

The mobile solar containers are already used for a wide range of applications. For example, for the rural electricity supply in Mali, as well as in Chile for supplying power to supermarkets. In the military sector, the containers provide electricity for NATO camps and those of the German armed forces.

Multicon was founded in 1993 and has been active in the field of renewable energy ever since. The company produces and supplies turnkey solar systems. To date, more than 1,000 plants with a total output of more than 200 megawatts have been installed. Since 2013, the company’s focus has been on mobile solar power plants such as the solar container or the even more mobile solar trailer.
