VERY SHORT MOVIES FESTIVAL UNVEILS INNOVATIVE 2008 PROGRAM

HOLLYWOOD, CA - March 3rd, 2008 – The Very Short Movies Festival unveils its third annual film festival with a new structure embracing the online world with VSM Cinema. The event is launching on March 13th 2008 at Cinespace in Hollywood with a Red Carpet Opening Gala. The party will kick off with the screening of VSM’s 2007 festival winners and the beginning of online voting on vsmcinema.com. The event will carry on online for 30 days with weekly gatherings to gradually present the films from this year’s finalists on the big screen.
“The new streaming and voting elements of the vsmcinema.com website will allow global participation in the festival and worldwide exposure for filmmakers.” said Serge Polakoff, CEO and founder of Very Short Movies, Inc. “We feel that these initiatives will allow short films to get all the recognition they deserve and we are truly proud to provide this chance to talented individuals.”
A total of 48 shorts from around the world will compete in the comedy, drama, animation, documentary and experimental categories. Awards will be given in each grouping based on online votes and a jury of professionals will select the Best of Fest winner. A special category of student films by artists under the age of 18 is also included in the festival program.
VSM is expecting over thirty finalists to be present for the screening of their movie. Each week, the respective filmmakers will participate in a Q&A session with the audience. Towards the end of the festival, the filmmakers will have the opportunity to meet and discuss one-on-one with industry leaders during the Open Access event. The VSM Festival will end on April 12th 2008 with an award ceremony followed by a party at Cinespace.
